About The Position

The Director of Merchandising, Young Men's Fashion will lead the strategy, assortment, and execution for one of Walmart Fashion’s highest visibility businesses, focused on winning with the Gen Z customer across stores and eCommerce. This role partners closely with Design, Product Development, Planning, and Replenishment to deliver trend-right, customer-relevant assortments that position Walmart Men’s as a destination for young adult style. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the customer, marketplace, and competitive and aspirational brands, along with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence at all levels, and drive strong business results in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Men’s.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of the Gen Z customer, the current fashion landscape, and relevant competitive and aspirational brands within the young adult market.
  • Proven merchandising leadership experience with the ability to drive significant business results in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and collaborate effectively across Merchandising, Design, Product Development, Planning, and Replenishment teams.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and financial acumen with experience translating customer and market insights into winning assortments and category growth.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a highly visible role and influence senior leadership.
  • Passion for product, trend, and customer storytelling, combined with a test-and-learn mindset and a bias for action.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, or related field and 5 years’ experience in merchandising management, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.
  • OR 7 years’ experience in merchandising management, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the merchandising strategy and seasonal assortment vision for Men’s Young Adult across stores and eCommerce, with a focus on winning with the Gen Z customer.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Design, Product Development, Planning, and Replenishment to create cohesive, trend-right product solutions that drive customer engagement and business growth.
  • Analyze customer insights, market trends, competitive brands, and cultural influences to identify opportunities and shape product direction.
  • Drive category performance through strong financial acumen, assortment planning, and executional excellence across key metrics including sales, margin, and inventory productivity.
  • Influence and develop high-performing teams while collaborating across functions and senior leadership in a highly visible, fast-paced environment.
  • Build and maintain awareness of competitive and aspirational brands to ensure Walmart Men’s remains relevant, differentiated, and positioned to win in the marketplace.
