About The Position

The Director, Marketing (Brand & Digital) is a strategic, enterprise-level leadership role responsible for helping lead the relaunch of one of Canada’s most recognized retail brands. Reporting to the President of Bed Bath and Beyond Canada, you will shape the brand’s renewed market position and customer experience across the full marketing ecosystem. While the business will launch online first, this role requires an omnichannel mindset from day one, integrating eCommerce, CRM, customer lifecycle strategy, retail marketing, future store experiences, communications, and performance marketing into a cohesive growth agenda. You will function as the internal champion for the brand’s cultural relevance, customer connection, and long-term retail presence in Canada.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field
  • 7-10+ years of progressive experience in brand and digital marketing leadership.
  • Experience working for an eCommerce retailer with direct experience in Performance Marketing
  • Proven track record of delivering digital and brand growth for multi category business using data and brand tracking to make strategic decisions.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing budgets and high-performing teams.
  • Ability to manage budgets, project timelines, and team growth effectively.
  • Knowledge of best practices for web content, conversion optimization, site hierarchy, accessibility, and site speed.
  • Experience using platforms like Shopify, Amazon, or similar eCommerce environments.
  • Understanding CAN-SPAM and CASL compliance.
  • Proven experience working with a top-tier Email Service Provider (ESP)
  • Experience in copywriting and/or design, and/or with HTML and CSS

Responsibilities

  • Set the long-term brand strategy, positioning, and messaging architecture for the relaunch, ensuring the brand is differentiated, culturally relevant, and consistently expressed across all customer touchpoints.
  • Lead integrated brand, communications, PR, partnership, and retail marketing strategies that build awareness, strengthen consideration, and support market share growth.
  • Own the creative direction and brand governance model in partnership with the President, ensuring a high-quality, consistent customer experience across digital, CRM, paid, earned, owned, and future physical retail channels.
  • Translate customer insight, competitive intelligence, and business priorities into a clear marketing agenda that supports acquisition, retention, loyalty, revenue growth, and brand equity.
  • Partner with Merchandising, eCommerce, Operations, Technology, and Customer Experience leaders to align brand strategy, product storytelling, promotional priorities, and customer experience across the enterprise.
  • Manage marketing investment across brand, performance, influencer, partnerships, affiliate, CRM, and paid media channels, ensuring resources are allocated to the highest-impact growth opportunities with clear ROI accountability.
  • Define the full-funnel growth strategy across eCommerce, CRM, SEO, SEM, email, SMS, paid media, affiliates, and emerging channels to drive customer acquisition, conversion, retention, and lifetime value.
  • Establish marketing performance goals, measurement frameworks, and optimization routines that connect marketing activity to revenue, customer growth, margin, engagement, and brand health outcomes.
  • Lead eCommerce and customer journey priorities that improve discovery, navigation, conversion, personalization, and post-purchase engagement while reinforcing the brand experience.
  • Use customer, sales, site, CRM, and campaign data to identify growth opportunities, inform investment decisions, and improve marketing effectiveness across channels.
  • Partner with Merchandising and eCommerce teams to ensure product storytelling, promotional planning, and site experience support customer demand, revenue goals, and the broader brand strategy, while day-to-day inventory, pricing, and product placement execution remain owned by the appropriate functional teams.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing marketing team with clear accountability for brand growth, customer acquisition and retention, marketing effectiveness, and business outcomes.
  • Operate as a senior cross-functional business leader, partnering with the President and executive team to set priorities, align resources, remove barriers, and deliver key relaunch and growth milestones.
  • Build strong operating rhythms with Merchandising, eCommerce, Technology, Operations, Finance, and Customer Experience teams to ensure marketing strategy is integrated with enterprise plans and commercial objectives.
