The City of Chattanooga is seeking a Director of Maintenance for its Wastewater department. This role is responsible for directing staff, leading day-to-day activities of division work groups, and serving as a technical authority for maintenance on projects and systems. The position oversees the maintenance activities and operations of the Regional Wastewater Maintenance Plant, Pump Stations, and CSO facilities, including capital projects and Consent Decree projects. The Director will ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, lead and develop maintenance leaders, and manage internal and external maintenance resources. This role also involves creating and maintaining the organizational structure for technical expertise, overseeing third-party maintenance service providers, and ensuring high levels of execution for preventive, mechanical, and electrical maintenance. The position includes oversight of personnel activities such as staffing, hiring, evaluations, and employee relations in conjunction with Human Resources. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, problem-solving, and representing the City at various meetings are key aspects of this role. The Director will also prepare and analyze reports, develop policies and procedures, and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and cost.
