About The Position

Their multidisciplinary approach empowers businesses to optimize tax positions, manage costs effectively, and capitalize on growth opportunities. We are seeking a Director to join our Tax M&A practice with a primary focus on partnership transactions and related federal income tax matters. The ideal candidate brings deep experience advising private equity funds, portfolio companies, and other pass-through structures across the transaction lifecycle, paired with strong technical judgment, commercial instincts, and the ability to help grow client relationships and a national practice. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor on high-profile transactions involving partnerships and other pass-through entities, lead and develop teams, and shape practical solutions on structuring, modeling, and technical issues while contributing to the continued growth of our Tax M&A platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 8–12+ years of progressive tax experience with significant M&A exposure and substantial partnership tax experience (Big Four or large regional preferred)
  • CPA or active Bar admission
  • Strong background in partnership and pass-through taxation in transactional settings; experience with C-corporations and consolidated groups is helpful but not primary
  • Excellent tax research, technical writing, and issue spotting skills
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams and client engagements

  • Master’s in Taxation; JD may substitute for undergraduate and master’s degrees

Responsibilities

  • Lead partnership transaction structuring and modeling, including analyses of basis step-ups, §704 allocations, disguised sale considerations, debt allocations, and related transactional issues
  • Deliver post close planning and transitional services
  • Analyze complex federal tax issues affecting partnerships and other pass-through entities and document conclusions in clear deliverables
  • Oversee multi disciplinary teams across multiple transactions to deliver high quality, timely, practical work
  • Advise senior client stakeholders on partnership-driven transaction issues with commercially focused, risk-balanced recommendations
  • Own engagement economics, including scope, staffing, budgets, billing, and collections
  • Coach and develop high performing teams, emphasizing technical excellence, project management, and executive level communication
  • Build and deepen client relationships, support business development and proposal efforts
  • Contribute to practice growth and thought leadership (articles, alerts, webinars, conferences, and other market facing content)
