About The Position

The Director, Logistics is responsible for leading end-to-end pharmaceutical distribution, transportation, inventory management, reverse logistics, and claims operations across the supply chain. This position ensures the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of pharmaceutical products while overseeing claims adjudication, chargebacks, rebates, shortages, returns, and dispute resolution processes. The Director, Logistics collaborates with our North Carolina manufacturing site; CMO’s; CPO’s; third-party logistics providers (3PL’s); freight forwarders; material suppliers; wholesalers; specialty pharmacies; payers; and internal stakeholders to optimize service levels, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive operational excellence. This role is critical in ensuring product availability, minimizing revenue leakage/theft/diversion, and supporting patient access to therapies. The Director, Logistics acts as the primary point of contact (POC) for our 3PL’s in managing any warehousing storage / freight transportation / claims requirements. Responsible for ensuring that all company guidelines and cGMP’s and cGDP’s are followed. The Director is the main POC for all 3PL distribution-related inquiries. The role serves as the tactical liaison between Cosette’s 3PL’s Distribution Center (DC), the internal Customer Service team, Lincolnton and Bridgewater Supply Chain teams and the POC for our CMO’s and CPO’s. The responsibility includes monitoring logistics / Freight Forwarder selections and spend, distribution data for all Annual Product Reviews (APRs), material movement at the 3PL’s DC and for holding our 3PL DC accountable for OTIF and POD performance metrics. The Director, Logistics is the primary negotiator for all 3PL Master Service Agreements (MSA’s) and works in partnership with senior Operations staff (SVP, Operations and the Vice President, Supply Chain & Sourcing) and Finance to negotiate with the 3PL to result in an MSA that provides strong cost benefits for Cosette. Active negotiation and execution of cost savings targets for Warehousing services, 3PL Supplies and Transportation costs are a key part of this role on a daily basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration is required.
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in pharmaceutical supply chain, logistics, distribution, or claims management.
  • 5+ years managing teams and complex operational functions.
  • Experience working with manufacturers, wholesalers, specialty pharmacies, and healthcare distribution networks.
  • Strong understanding of 3PL warehouse and distribution center operations, product returns, and reverse logistics processes along with Field Alerts and Recalls.
  • Experience managing 3PL’s and transportation vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works well under pressure with initiative to solve issues with minimal supervision.
  • Inventory management and control; ability to prepare and submit Claims investigations while working with our 3PL’s to negotiate and drive resolutions; cycle counting and materials management.
  • Experience with managing DSCSA / Serialization with TraceLink (or comparable serialization system provider) is required.
  • Fundamental knowledge of pharmaceutical industry cGMP’s and cGDP’s (current Good Distribution Practices) is required.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System for inventory management and control.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute pharmaceutical logistics strategies to support business growth and customer service objectives.
  • Oversee domestic and international transportation, warehousing, distribution, and inventory management activities.
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs), carriers, distributors, wholesalers, and specialty pharmacy partners.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, DEA, DSCSA, GDP, state, and international distribution regulations.
  • Lead cold-chain and controlled-substance logistics programs to maintain product integrity.
  • Establish logistics performance metrics and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize transportation costs, inventory turns, and order fulfillment performance.
  • Direct all pharmaceutical claims operations, including: Chargebacks, Rebates, Returns and reverse distribution, Product shortages and damages, Pricing disputes, Medicaid and government program claims.
  • Establish policies and controls to prevent revenue leakage/diversion/theft and ensure claim accuracy.
  • Review and approve claim settlements, credits and dispute resolutions.
  • Partner with Finance and Commercial teams to ensure proper accounting treatment and reconciliation of claims activities.
  • Monitor claims trends and identify root causes to improve operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations including, but not limited to, the FDA, DEA, DSCSA, Serialization, TAA, HIPAA, and applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs related to logistics and claims activities.
  • Prepare for and support internal and external audits.
  • Manage product recalls, investigations, and corrective action plans.
  • Identify and mitigate operational, financial, and regulatory risks.
  • Manage departmental budgets and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Analyze supply chain and claims data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Drive initiatives that improve profitability, service quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and develop logistics, claims and supply chain professionals.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Commercial, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Finance, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, IT and Legal.
  • Manage all transportation and logistics objectives for the company.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all distribution-related inquires and issues.
  • Perform rate negotiations with logistics providers and assist in cost reduction initiatives.
  • Resolve inventory issues in a timely and accurate manner. Trend reoccurring issues.
  • Work in the ERP system and 3PL portal regarding returns, inventory movements, freight charges.
  • Develops a thorough working knowledge of Cosette’s primary service providers (carriers) as well as key customer accounts.
  • Analyze and provide new distribution options to improve company performance around cost and service.
  • Provide all distribution data for Annual Product Reviews (APRs).
  • Assist in any Verification Router Service (VRS)/ serialization issues, inquiries, etc. that may arise.
  • Perform quarterly destruction analysis and prepare communication to 3PL DC.
  • Analyze and generate monthly metrics in accordance with company goals.
  • Assist in budget preparation activities.
  • Assist in periodic audits.
  • Ensure compliance with Trade Agreement Act (TAA) and sourcing of materials governed by the TAA.
