About The Position

The Director, Loan Syndications will support the Manager, Syndication Loans in various aspects of the business, with a significant role in selling down individual loans and affiliated group exposures that exceed credit hold parameters. This role involves leading the management of contacts and growing strategic relationships with financial institutions, supporting sell-side syndications and buy-side opportunities, and preparing marketing materials for syndicated transactions. The position also includes managing deal site activities, identifying industry trends, overseeing due diligence and distribution of syndicated loans, and ensuring accurate booking of deals. Additionally, the Director will assist in cross-selling bank services, meeting business plan objectives, managing risk assessment with participant banks, and maintaining appropriate loan syndication technology. The role also involves preparation and negotiation of agreements with legal counsel and participating in internal credit risk management and lender meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years relevant experience or financial services experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager, Syndication Loans in every aspect of the business while taking a significant role in selling down individual loans and affiliated group exposures that exceed the credit hold parameters as mandated by Credit Risk Management.
  • Lead the management of contacts and help grow strategic relationships with financial institutions that have credit appetite for the loans the Bank originates.
  • Support the Manager, Syndication Loans on sell side syndications and support buy side opportunities when generated by the Loan Syndications Group or commercial lenders.
  • Prepare marketing materials for syndicated / participation transactions (Loan Sale Call Sheet and Syndication Books).
  • Maintain deal site management activities which today are largely handled through the creation and population of ShareFile folders with due diligence and reporting requirement information for loan participants.
  • Identify and communicate syndication / participation industry trends and opportunities into internal colleague communications, activities and training.
  • Oversee and assist in the due diligence, modeling, pitchbook packaging, distribution, and ongoing support of syndicated loan prospecting, lead, and purchase activities.
  • Work with loan servicing department to ensure syndication / participation deals are correctly booked and captured on the Bank's systems.
  • Assist in the cross sell of VNB services most specifically identifying opportunities and getting them to the right people and departments at the Bank.
  • Assist in meeting / exceeding business plan objectives (commitment fee and interest rate swap skim, servicing fee generation and meeting new bank partners).
  • Help manage risk assessment and exposure levels to participant banks in cooperation with Credit Risk Management -- Counterparty Risk.
  • In conjunction with Loan Underwriting and Loan Operations, assess and maintain the appropriate loan syndication technology/software support for efficient and compliant internal and external needs.
  • Preparation and negotiation of Participation and Risk Participation Agreements in conjunction with internal and external legal counsel.
  • Participates in internal credit risk management and lender meetings to have input on deal structure and pricing.
