Requirements

  • J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • Four+ years of transactional, asset-management investment or legal operations experience
  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex processes and coordinating stakeholders across legal, investment, operations, and technology functions
  • Experience with complex transactions, corporate and legal entity structures, and related documentation
  • Strong judgment and the ability to interpret and apply policies to complex or novel circumstances
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across geographies, functions, and levels of seniority
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple concurrent, deadline-driven workstreams
  • Strong interest in legal operations, data governance, and the application of AI or automation to business processes

  • Real estate or private equity experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Investment Committee process from transaction submission through classification, routing, committee review, and follow-up
  • Review transactions and advise deal teams on the application of internal policies, procedures, and governance requirements
  • Oversee junior team responsible for initial transaction reviews, ensuring submissions are complete and accurate and resolving issues
  • Prepare committee agendas and coordinate stakeholders throughout each review cycle
  • Lead post-committee debriefs and maintain related guidance, reference materials, and training
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the data governance program, ensuring that transaction, investment, property, and other data is created and maintained in accordance with the firm’s data model
  • Evaluate data-model issues and recommend enhancements to attributes, definitions, and governance standards as business and reporting requirements evolve
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex master-data matters, applying judgment and partnering with business teams to determine appropriate outcomes
  • Maintain a knowledge base of key decisions, interpretations, precedents, and complex scenarios
  • Partner with the data quality team in Powai and other stakeholders to analyze data quality and provide actionable insights
  • Identify and analyze recurring governance, data, and workflow issues; recommend practical enhancements to program leadership; and support implementation of approved changes
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency through technology, AI, automation, and analytics
  • Maintain guidance, precedents, and training materials for Investment Committee and Data Governance programs to promote consistent execution across teams
  • Support enterprise risk management matters, including investment-risk analysis, policy development, transaction negotiation on a limited basis, and other legal analysis, as needed
  • Review commercial contracts as needed
  • Provide targeted legal and regulatory support related to the governance programs and other global real estate matters, as needed
