About The Position

The Director, Leadership & Programs will ensure that all curriculum developed for specific programs meets organizational, industry standards, safety guidelines, and program quality criteria. They will collaborate with program staff to ensure the delivery of quality and consistent age-level appropriate program activities that meet the needs of girls and youth, emphasizing contemporary issues, progression of skills, and leadership development through a variety of programs and events. This role involves developing a strategy for 6th-12th grade Older Girl Scout program and leadership program to ensure successful implementation, and meeting new girl recruitment and girl retention goals for all programs. The Director will also plan, organize, and run youth program committees to foster leadership skills and experience in a welcoming, collaborative, and youth-led environment, as well as plan, organize, and run programs for 6th-12th grade focused on leadership and their interests. Ensuring the successful planning, organizing, and delivery of signature programs and events is key. The Director will hire, onboard, and supervise staff, create and manage budgets for programs/events, monitor and report on financial, statistical, and outcome data, and cultivate strategic relationships with community organizations, agencies, and businesses. Collaboration with the Marketing Department on marketing strategies to promote GSNorCal, increase member participation, and attract non-members is expected. The role may involve leading or participating in cross-functional staff teams and staying informed about trends affecting girls and GSUSA requirements. Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Five years of experience in youth program development and management

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all curriculum developed for specific programs meets organizational, industry standards, safety guidelines, and program quality criteria.
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure delivery of quality and consistent age level appropriate program activities that meet the needs of girls and youth emphasizing contemporary issues, progression of skills and leadership development through a variety of programs and events.
  • Develop 6th-12th grade Older Girl Scout program and leadership program strategy to ensure successful implementation of programs.
  • Ensure program and event participation by Girl Scouts meet registration and participation goals.
  • Meet new girl recruitment and girl retention goals for all programs.
  • Plan, organize, and run youth program committees to ensure youth in committees receive leadership skills and experience in a welcoming, collaborative, and youth-led environment.
  • Plan, organize, and run programs for 6th-12th grade that focus on leadership and the interests of this target group.
  • Ensure the successful planning, organizing and delivery of signature programs and events.
  • Hire, onboard, and supervise staff to ensure smooth integration into their role and the organization, including addressing performance and interpersonal issues promptly, resolving conflicts, and removing barriers to effectiveness.
  • Create and manage budgets for programs/events; ensure prompt handling of all financial obligations.
  • Monitor and report on financial, statistical, and outcome data.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with local community organizations, agencies, and businesses; develop collaborations as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Dept in marketing strategies to promote GSNorCal, ensure the increased participation of Girl Scout members in programs and events, and to attract non-members to the organization.
  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional staff teams as required.
  • Keep abreast of trends and issues affecting girls, as well as GSUSA’s changes and requirements related to leadership programs and Girl Scout programs and Girl Scouts of NorCal.
  • Other duties as assigned.
