About The Position

The Director of Lateral Partner Recruiting & Integration will support the strategic growth of the Trial & Global Disputes Practice Groups across U.S. offices by managing all aspects of lateral partner recruiting. This role is crucial in hiring, developing, and retaining top legal talent to ensure the highest quality of work and service for clients. The Director will collaborate with executive leadership, Practice Group Leads, and Sponsoring Partners to shape and execute recruiting strategies for the Business Litigation, International Disputes, and Mass Torts & Products Groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 10 years of prior experience, preferably from an AmLaw 100 firm.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects and competing priorities in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
  • Deep understanding of the legal industry and lateral partner market trends.
  • Ability to think strategically and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize projects in a fast-paced, detailed-oriented environment.
  • Committed professionalism with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to proactively follow up and follow through.
  • A proactive learner with the flexibility to adapt to new systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to identify, recruit, and hire top lateral partners in alignment with the Firm’s strategic goals and hiring standards.
  • Execute innovative sourcing strategies to create and maintain a qualified and diverse pipeline of potential candidates.
  • Participate in meetings with key partners to identify potential candidates and develop recruitment plans.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for candidates, search firms, and internal stakeholders, representing the firm’s brand.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with search firms to communicate the Firm’s goals, strategies, and desired targets.
  • Direct the preparation and delivery of candidate interview schedules, pre-interview materials, and marketing collateral.
  • Work with Practice Group Leads on drafting interview talking points, practice summaries, and memos for the Policy Committee and integration plans.
  • Maintain and analyze market intelligence on lateral partner moves to inform recruiting decisions.
  • Manage the collection and analysis of conflicts, diligence, and Lateral Partner Questionnaires.
  • Draft offer letters, compensation plans, and request pro-formas to develop candidate compensation packages.
  • Coach, develop, and train recruiting coordinators, assign work, and provide feedback.
  • Collaborate on integration plans for newly joined lateral partners with the Associate Director of Partner Integration, Integration Partners, and firm leadership.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with lateral partners to monitor integration progress and address challenges.
  • Develop initiatives to enhance the onboarding experience for lateral partners.
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure seamless completion of onboarding documentation and processes.
