About The Position

The Director of IT Strategy is accountable for defining and driving the enterprise-wide IT strategic direction for Samsung Electronics America. This role leads the planning, governance, and execution of large-scale IT transformation and cost optimization initiatives — spanning cloud infrastructure, enterprise systems, security policy enforcement, and IT cost management strategy — to maximize business performance and competitive advantage. About the Business Transformation & Excellence Team The Business Transformation & Excellence team is a strategic organization that specializes in analyzing, developing, and implementing innovative solutions and systems for all business units across SEA. Operating in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment, the Business Transformation & Excellence team sets high expectations and drives results across all divisions within the company. The Business Transformation and Excellence team also leads centralized AI strategies and directives working directly with Samsung Top Management and is renowned for their ability to spark transformative change and drive business performance through innovative solutions and systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in IT strategy, process innovation, enterprise systems management, or related fields within a large corporate environment
  • Minimum 8 years leading enterprise-scale IT programs including cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), ERP (SAP), CRM (Salesforce), or comparable platforms
  • Business-level fluency in Korean and English, with the ability to read, write, and translate technical/business documents
  • Proven experience owning IT cost management strategy and driving measurable cost optimization across enterprise IT services and cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with IT security policy governance, compliance, and audit in a large enterprise setting
  • Track record of managing and developing high-performing teams in a fast-paced, matrixed organization
  • Experience presenting to and influencing C-suite and executive stakeholders, including HQ leadership
  • Background in Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid project delivery methodologies
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable IT roadmaps and execution plans
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence across organizational and geographic boundaries
  • Deep understanding of cloud cost optimization, enterprise architecture principles, systems integration, and digital transformation frameworks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; data-driven approach to performance management and decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and drive enterprise-wide adoption of new systems and processes
  • MS Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Tools / Applications: AWS, SAP, Salesforce, N-IRP, Alteryx, Tableau, or equivalent platforms
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT Cost Management Plan and strategy; lead ongoing cost optimization efforts across enterprise IT services, cloud infrastructure, and vendor contracts to drive efficiency and fiscal accountability.
  • Lead the AWS Cost Optimization Project and related cloud strategy initiatives; identify cost reduction opportunities across cloud service providers and drive implementation of savings measures in collaboration with infrastructure and finance teams.
  • Oversee major enterprise system transition programs including email archiving migration (BMA to eVault) and email platform transitions (Exchange to Knox); manage project scope, stakeholder alignment, timelines, and change management to ensure successful adoption.
  • Lead N-IRP system policy enforcement in collaboration with NA/SEA Security teams; define and govern IT security policies, ensure compliance across the organization, and manage escalation and resolution of security-related issues.
  • Provide strategic direction for IT governance, InfoSec, audit, and data privacy compliance; support inquiry responses and ensure alignment with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Translate company vision and senior management strategy into a comprehensive IT roadmap; communicate this direction to executive stakeholders and Samsung HQ, securing alignment across all business units.
  • Build, manage, and develop a high-performing PI IT Strategy team; design and evolve organizational structure to meet current and future business needs, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across Finance, Operations, Security, and IT stakeholders to align IT initiatives with business priorities and ensure enterprise-wide adoption of new systems and processes.
  • Oversee IT vendor and partner relationships; govern strategic technology budgets, contracts, and delivery performance to ensure value realization and risk mitigation.
