About The Position

As the Director of Pickup & Delivery Plan and Prepare Operations Systems, you will have responsibility for the strategy and execution of mission-critical applications that enable Global Pickup and Delivery. This includes the skills and experience to lead the transformation and application optimization for legacy Supply Chain Operations P&D systems. In this role, you will partner with other IT Directors in the P&D domain, with operations and engineering business owners, and with architecture and reliability teams to build out the preferred future state (PFS) of the global pickup and delivery ecosystem while ensuring the operational excellence of business systems across your area throughout the digital transformation. The successful Director candidate will focus on enabling a repeatable transformation framework for their team to implement the architecture patterns and tactics that will enable highly resilient, reliable, scalable, and secure solutions for our operational pickup and delivery estate. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must possess sound business judgment and the ability to develop and execute against business and technology strategies. The ideal candidate will have prior leadership experience in implementing Enterprise IT solutions and demonstrated success in accelerating speed to value, reliability, and security through an engineered approach. Strong business partner interface skills, excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential for this position including the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Essential Duties / Responsibilities: This position includes direct responsibilities for enabling the next generation of FedEx Global Supply Chain Operations Pickup and Delivery Plan and Prepare operational business capabilities and partnering with peer directors to move us toward our preferred future state in terms of business capabilities, business architecture, technology architecture, and solution delivery.

Requirements

  • Must possess sound business judgment and the ability to develop and execute against business and technology strategies.
  • The ideal candidate will have prior leadership experience in implementing Enterprise IT solutions and demonstrated success in accelerating speed to value, reliability, and security through an engineered approach.
  • Strong business partner interface skills, excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential for this position including the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Extensive experience in systems development including design, development, implementation and maintenance of large batch or online transaction based systems. Experience in the majority of the following: mainframe, distributed systems, client server, relational systems, transaction and message systems, embedded systems, imaging and systems management and operation.
  • Previous management experience, strong leadership, human relations and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop business aligned strategic technology plans to deliver business value and drive technological operational excellence.
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation in this domain.
  • Develop and execute a roadmap for Digital Transformation, significantly reducing the number of applications within P&D Plan & Prepare Operations
  • Lead and inspire a team of geography dispersed technology professionals that design, develop and support mission critical 24/7 field operations technology systems.
  • Foster a process first, engineering mindset, developing and implementing standard, global business processes for this domain.
  • Create an Operational Excellence approach to continually deliver operational improvements.
  • Lead a transformation following the FedEx Ways of Working including the Managed Servies transition while promoting Agile practices (ex .SAFe, Test Driven Development, Continuous Flow, etc.).
  • Provide oversight to ensure that modern engineering, architecture and technologies are used in the design, construction and implementation of field operations technology.
  • Direct the planning, budgeting, development and implementation of integrated technology solutions. Ensure all systems are in compliance with the IT transformation to modern technologies.
  • Lead a diverse and highly motivated global team of technology professionals that architect, design, develop and support mission critical operational P&D applications that support a global supply chain operation.
  • Develop business aligned staffing, funding, and technology plans that ensure operational excellence of existing eco-system while delivering the necessary outcomes to transform the underlying application, data, and technical architecture.
  • Lead our journey to application optimization for the global pickup & delivery ecosystem to reduce the number of applications in this domain while continuing to transform our ways of working including full adoption of modern software engineering practices.
  • Shape the technical strategy and architecture to deliver business value while promoting a culture of innovation.
  • Coache and mentor team members to help develop skills and experience that enable our next generation workforce.
  • Lead the continued enablement of organization wide operational excellence through a focus on our fundamental principles of architecture and architecture quality attributes.
  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent in alignment with our workforce strategy to ensure the organization has the skills and expertise needed to achieve platform and solution excellence.
  • Build strong vendor partnerships to augment the talent of the team and to assist in the development of the platforms and solutions in partnership with the Strategic Project Management Office for alternative delivery options.
  • Ensure effective application life cycle management of software technologies.
  • Constantly evaluate resourcing assumptions and models to ensure higher value work is addressed while lower value work is deprioritized or decommissioned. Specific focus on leadership of modern Agile/SAFe methodologies and governance processes.
