About The Position

Scotia Capital USA Inc. seeks a Director, Investment Banking, Media & Telecom in New York, NY to lead negotiations and structuring of M&A transactions, including valuation, deal terms, and integration plans. This role involves overseeing the execution of equity capital markets transactions (IPOs, follow-on offerings, private placements) and managing the structuring, negotiation, and execution of DCM transactions (debt financing). The position requires identifying probable sources of new business, generating ideas for business development pitches, and developing creative solutions to complex client financing requirements with a long-term relationship strategy. The Director will coordinate mandate execution, manage transaction processes, and lead/develop a team of banking professionals. Collaboration with colleagues across departments and geographies is essential, as is fostering an environment of effective and efficient operations aligned with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles. The role also involves ensuring the adequacy of day-to-day business controls for operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Business Administration or a related field and nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience in originating and supporting investment banking advisory mandates with North America clients.
  • Manage day-to-day aspects of client relationships and transactions.
  • Incorporate knowledge and market intelligence from key decision makers at large financial sponsors and strategic clients in the US and Canada.
  • Utilize valuation metrics used by clients to discuss recent transactions within the industry.
  • Work as a financial modeler to construct financial models related to M&A or financing transactions.
  • Train team members in financial modeling and analyses.
  • Respond to internal and external information requests pertaining to transactions.
  • FINRA license SIE, 63, & 79 required.
  • In the alternative, a Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or a related field and seven (7) years of experience in the above-listed skills will be accepted.

  • Lead, manage and develop a team of banking professionals.
  • Share client information with team members and promote collaborative and cohesive working relationships with colleagues from other departments / geographies within Scotiabank’s platform.
