About The Position

The Director of Internal Digital Communications - Content & Digital Channels is responsible for building and executing The Freeman Company's enterprise-wide internal digital communications strategy, connecting employees through a modern, integrated, and data-driven digital ecosystem. This leader will oversee all employee-facing digital platforms and tools, including the intranet (SharePoint-based), email communications platforms (e.g., Poppulo), digital signage, and other emerging solutions that inform, engage, and connect our 6,000+ employees across The Freeman Company and its family of brands. Early priorities include managing content, governance, and analytics for the current intranet; leading rebranding updates across internal digital platforms; and partnering with IT to evaluate and implement a new intranet solution that aligns with Freeman's digital transformation and brand integration. Reporting to the VP of Communications, this role partners closely with the Senior Director of Internal Communications, IT, HR, and Brand teams to ensure a seamless employee experience that reflects the Freeman brand, culture, and business strategy. This position will support our Marketing team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week. This position is based out of our North Dallas office in Dallas, TX.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience in communications, digital engagement, or a related field, ideally within a large, multi-brand or multi-site organization
  • Proven experience managing intranet platforms (SharePoint or equivalent) , enterprise email or communications tools, digital signage systems and mobile communication tools
  • Strong understanding of digital UX, analytics, governance and AI tool integration
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects with IT, HR, and Marketing
  • Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a digital-first mindset
  • Strategic thinking with ability to translate complex business concepts into clear, compelling employee communications
  • Project management skills with experience managing multiple initiatives and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Change management experience in communications during organizational transitions
  • Bachelor's degree from a 4 year accredited college or university with a concentration in Communications, Digital Media, or related field is required; Master's preferred

Responsibilities

  • Audit existing digital channels and use cases to inform and implement integrated internal communications strategies aligned with organizational goals and culture
  • Develop and execute an internal digital communications strategy that supports enterprise goals and enhances employee connection, understanding, and engagement
  • Create governance models, standards, editorial calendars, and measurement frameworks for digital communication platforms to ensure strategic alignment and operational excellence
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging tools and technologies that modernize how Freeman communicates with and connects employees
  • Lead day-to-day management of the company intranet (currently on SharePoint), ensuring accuracy, usability, and engagement
  • Oversee content governance, analytics, and reporting to track performance and optimize communication effectiveness
  • Manage all content and navigation updates required as part of The Freeman Company's ongoing rebranding and integration work
  • Partner with IT and cross-functional stakeholders to assess, select, and implement a new intranet platform that supports the company's future-state digital workplace vision
  • Develop compelling content across multiple formats including articles, videos, presentations, newsletters, and digital displays
  • Create and maintain content templates, style guides, and best practice documentation
  • Manage content production workflows and editorial processes across team
  • Oversee enterprise employee communications tools (e.g., Poppulo for targeted emails, Viva Engage, digital signage)
  • Manage and integrate digital signage strategies across offices, event spaces, and production facilities, channel optimization, user experience, and performance analytics to maximize engagement and reach
  • Explore opportunities for connecting internal and external content ecosystems (e.g., content that can extend to LinkedIn)
  • Establish channel performance dashboards to measure engagement, reach, and impact across platforms
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to improve effectiveness and inform communication planning
  • Partner with IT to align digital communications tools with enterprise systems and security standards
  • Collaborate with HR on employee experience initiatives and digital onboarding resources
  • Partner with Marketing to ensure alignment of voice, visuals, and experience across all digital platforms
  • Support the Senior Director of Internal Communications on enterprise storytelling initiatives and leadership communications that leverage digital channels
  • Ability to lead or support high-priority communications initiatives and special projects beyond digital communications
