Since 2015, AECL has been delivering its mandate through a Government-owned, Contractor-operated (GoCo) business model, whereby a private-sector organization, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), is responsible for managing and operating AECL’s sites on its behalf. AECL’s objectives under the GoCo model include accelerating Environmental Remediation Management, managing the Federal Nuclear Science and Technology Work Plan, and building a world-class nuclear laboratory that fulfils government priorities and grows commercial revenues. What you will do: We're looking for a Director, Integrated Oversight and Management Support who is passionate about governance, assurance, organizational effectiveness, and integrated owner-side oversight. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Integrated Mission Delivery, you will provide owner-side oversight of due diligence and associated programs, including such as performance assurance and operational training, and the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations, and integrated oversight planning. You will lead a team responsible for coordinating assurance activities across the IMD portfolio and applying, the use of a sound oversight methodology, so that which provides evidence, a risk- based insights approach, and performance information from multiple oversight areas are integrated into a clear and consistent view for leadership and integrated oversight planning. You will also support IMD provide internal management by helping to identify, coordinate, and strengthen internal practices—support, including such as training, and knowledge management, and alignment activities—so that the team has the clarity and to help strengthen consistency, capability needed to deliver on its mandate, and effective delivery across the Integrated Mission Delivery function. As AECL's senior authority for integrated oversight, risk assurance, and due diligence activities, you will consolidate and assess information from programme, field, capital, operational, and assurance sources to ensure risks, opportunities, and emerging issues are understood in their full context. Your work will help strengthen organizational governance by ensuring evidence is credible, connected, and appropriately reflected in executive decision-making processes. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in governance, risk management, assurance, performance oversight, or related disciplines within complex, regulated environments.
  • Experience integrating information across multiple functions, programmes, or portfolios to support executive decision-making.
  • Experience assessing performance, risk, assurance findings, and organizational trends to identify interdependencies, emerging issues, and systemic risks.
  • Experience working within structured governance frameworks involving oversight, escalation, and executive accountability.
  • Experience with assurance reviews, due diligence processes, and evidence-based evaluation methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex portfolio-level risks, assurance findings, and governance considerations to executive and external audiences.
  • Proven leadership, relationship management, analytical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional designation or certification in risk management, governance, audit, assurance, or program management is considered an asset.
  • Certification related to internal audit, assurance, or enterprise risk management is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide owner-side oversight of due diligence and associated programs, including performance assurance, operational training, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations, and integrated oversight planning.
