About The Position

To manage the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation/continuous improvement of infection prevention and control program. To perform job duties in accordance with the university hospital & health system’s purpose. To provide administration of daily operations of the infection prevention department. To ensure that the annual infection prevention plan is evidence based and provides prevention, surveillance, and control for the organization in accordance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field
  • Ten (10) years of acute care hospital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures and coordinates the efforts of infection control, employee health, hospital staff, and state department of health in managing epidemiologically significant events and exposures and limiting the spread of communicable infections and infectious disease.
  • Collaborates with and makes recommendation to leadership and departmental staff to ensure compliance with regulatory and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains the flow of information regarding all infection control issues.
  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of all routine reports and projects including the department’s participation in RCAS as appropriate.
  • Identifies and implements infection control goals and objectives related to surveillance, data analysis and reporting, infection prevention, and control practices that eliminate potential hazards and reduce the risks of and prevention of healthcare associated infections in patients, employees and visitors.
  • Provides overall operational leadership for the department and provides consultation on the appropriate selection of products and equipment.
  • Serves as an internal consultant/expert on infection control; pursues excellence in influencing, supporting, and improving the quality of healthcare through the practice management of infection control, education, and the application of epidemiology principles and research.
  • Prepares, delivers, and ensures compliance to budget.
  • Leads educational objectives directed at intervention to reduce infectious risk for the hospital and healthcare system.
  • Ensures that monitors are in place for the hospital environment to ensure appropriate cleanliness and to reduce the potential for transference of infections.
  • Maintains the flow of information to departmental staff of any and all issues pertaining to or arising from continuous survey readiness personnel, state and federal department of health personnel, and joint commission.
