About The Position

Sony Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking a Director, Income Tax Compliance & Reporting to lead income tax provision, compliance, forecasting, audit support, and related reporting activities for the Sony Pictures Entertainment segment. This role partners across tax, finance, accounting, operations, and legal teams to address complex U.S. federal, state, and international tax matters, strengthen processes through technology and innovation, and support the professional development of assigned team members. This position reports to the Senior Director, Consolidated Tax Reporting and Compliance.

Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in corporate tax accounting, compliance, and/or tax provision preparation, preferably in a large multinational company and/or a public accounting firm
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field is required
Comprehensive knowledge and technical competence in book-to-tax accounting, as well as federal and state income tax concepts applicable to multinational organizations, is essential
Significant experience with managing US tax compliance obligations, including analyzing and documenting tax positions
Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and proven capability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven dynamic environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CorpTax compliance software and OneSource Tax Provision required

Nice To Haves

CPA and/or Masters in Tax preferred
Knowledge of IFRS a plus
Working knowledge of BPC/SAP preferred

Responsibilities

Review quarterly and annual income tax provision calculation in accordance with IAS 12; computation of book to tax differences; tracking of deferred taxes inventory; tax account analysis and reconciliations; assist with effective tax rate reconciliation and other analysis of income tax amounts including preparation of tax-related journal entries for Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) Segment
Manage and review sub-consolidated supporting tax return workpapers, tax packages, elections, disclosures, and forms for the federal and state corporate income, partnership, and withholding tax returns for the SPE segment in collaboration with the international tax team
Collaborate with the tax planning and finance teams to incorporate the tax consequences of mergers, acquisitions, and divestiture activities into the provision and compliance process
Prepare tax forecast, budget, and cash flow analysis for SPE Segment for inclusion in the consolidated SCA analysis
Oversee the calculation and analysis of US international tax matters, including foreign-source income, FDII, BEAT, foreign tax credits, and withholding taxes for SPE Segment.
Partner with accounting, finance, operations, and legal departments to ensure tax considerations are appropriately identified, evaluated and addressed in business decisions
Monitor U.S. tax developments and related international rules impacting US filings, including OECD BEPS/Pillar Two to assess impacts on the business and assist with related reporting requirements
Manage and provide responses for segment related inquiries from the consolidated/combined Federal/State filing audits; handle all standalone Federal/State audits
Oversee and support the professional development of assigned team members in U.S. tax technical analysis, compliance, and tax accounting/reporting activities
Identify and support process improvement initiatives within the tax provision and compliance operations to enhance efficiency through the implementation of innovative solutions, technology enhancements, and collaboration with other tax specialty groups
Assist in special tax projects as needed
