About The Position

The Director, Project Portfolio Operations at J&J Innovative Medicine Supply Chain (J&JIM SC) will lead decision making & business processes across J&J IMSC to drive achievement of strategic, operational and financial goals. This position will be located (onsite/hybrid) at an IMSC hub location including Titusville, New Jersey, Horsham, Pennsylvania; Zug, Switzerland; Schaffhausen, Switzerland; Cork, Ireland; Latina, Italy; Leiden, Netherlands or Beerse, Belgium. The Director ensures that project priorities are aligned with business needs, the priorities are communicated throughout the organization, and risks and issues are visible and actionable. Provide recommendations to the J&JIM SC Leadership Team to continually ensure that the J&JIM SC portfolio is supporting the strategic intent and that investments and resources are deployed towards optimizing business outcomes. Drive governance and senior leadership team portfolio prioritization through portfolio analytics; ensure global portfolio integration for cross—governance portfolios. Partner with the other supply chain segment portfolio leaders (Med Tech segment, J&JIM R&D) to drive leverage and visibility across supply chain with respect to project portfolio management on the front end and the back end. Drive portfolio business processes and support tools to keep pace with or anticipate business needs and increase both efficiency and effectiveness within the organization. In partnership with J&JIM SC Finance, lead the J&JIM SC Business Process for financial cycles (LRFP, BP, Financial Updates) for Capital and OpEx needs. Manage the health and effectiveness of the global portfolio management processes; driving integration and alignment with the other strategic business processes (business planning, business strategy, capital approvals, product lifecycle management, etc.). Successfully lead and manage a global team with both direct and indirect reporting relationships. Bring the ability to drive the constant organization change leadership to ensure that portfolio and project management processes are ‘living’ in the organization. Display excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills, and navigating to work in a complex matrix organization.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Business, Finance or Supply Chain, or Analytics.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience preferably in a Supply Chain or Finance organizations.
  • Prior people leadership experience and strong talent development skills requirement.
  • Proven track record of influencing across all levels of leadership is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize large quantities of finance, process and technical information and present cogent recommendations.

Nice To Haves

  • An MBA is preferred.
  • Portfolio management experience is highly preferred.
  • Management of global teams preferred, and work experience outside the U.S. is highly desirable.
  • Experience with implementation and functional ownership of supporting systems preferred.
  • Portfolio management systems experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously mature portfolio management capabilities (People, Process and Technology Solutions) driving implementation of standards for decision support & portfolio prioritization.
  • Serve as the business process owner for the E2E Portfolio Capability designing & deploying a Project Portfolio Management maturity roadmap and value narrative for the capability; charter & lead initiatives that operationalize the capability
  • Provide leadership, guidance and oversight for J&JIMSC Project Portfolio governance, process and tools to make the best portfolio prioritization decisions given strategic priorities and resources across J&JIM SC.
  • Develop robust IMSC project portfolio aligned to organizational strategy (BP/LRFP/Financial Updates) inclusive of compliance to business process with deep analytics & reporting.
  • Oversee execution of project portfolio governance to deliver maximum organizational benefits.
  • In close partnership with the J&JIM Supply Chain functions, finance partners, governance lead decision support at the J&JIM SCLT.
