Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in the retail industry.
  • Strong expertise across core HR disciplines (talent, compensation, labor relations, HR operations, etc.).
  • Fluency in both English and French, due to the support of Canada nationally, along with daily contact with United States team members.
  • Experience in labor relations.
  • Proven ability to influence executive leadership and drive organizational change.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and in HRIS.
  • Travel required.

Nice To Haves

  • HR certification (e.g., CHRP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR).
  • Experience supporting high-growth or multi-region organizations in the retail business.
  • Advanced experience with HR analytics and workforce planning tools.
  • Experience working at an international level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the HR team by directing multiple managers across core HR disciplines.
  • This role is responsible for developing and executing HR strategies, policies, and programs that enhance organizational performance, enable business growth, and align with O’Reilly Auto Parts’ culture and long-term objectives.
  • Lead and execute the Human Resources strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, culture, and values.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the company’s executive team on all human capital matters.
  • Serve as the HR business partner to the President – Canada.
  • Translate global HR strategies into locally relevant practices while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and regional requirements.
  • Direct and oversee core HR functions, including talent, organizational development, compensation, payroll, HR business partnerships, labor/team member relations and compliance.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, programs, and frameworks to drive operational efficiency, consistency, and regulatory adherence.
  • Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational design to support growth and evolving business needs.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the HR team while overseeing performance management and talent strategies, including leadership development, engagement, retention, and recognition of high-performing team members.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to leadership on change management, organizational effectiveness, and culture transformation initiatives.
  • Lead the optimization and adoption of HR technology and systems to enhance team member experience, data integrity, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and leverage HR analytics, metrics, and KPIs to drive data-informed decisions and measure business impact.
  • Manage labor relations, including oversight of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Monitor and interpret local labor laws and regulatory changes, proactively advising leadership on business impacts and ensuring organizational readiness.
  • Oversee budget planning ensuring alignment with business and financial objectives.
  • Serve as a key partner across the organization to drive cohesive, enterprise-aligned solutions that support business and regional priorities.
  • Act as guardian of O’Reilly Auto Parts’ culture.
