About The Position

The Caterpillar Oil & Gas and Marine Division (COGMD) division has an exciting opportunity available for a Director Human Resources role based in Houston, TX, supporting an employee organization of 3,000 across 26 countries. COGMD has worldwide responsibility for service offerings for the oil and gas and marine industries. This global organization includes sales and product support of engines in the oil and gas industry; manufacturing, sales, and product support of pressure pumping solutions for the oil and gas industry; sales and product support of medium and high-speed marine engines, generator sets and auxiliary engines. The oil & gas and marine portfolio includes Cat®, SPM Oil & Gas and MaK branded products distributed and supported through a global network of Cat and MaK dealers and direct to end customers through SPM Oil & Gas distribution centers and OEMs. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of COGMD and overseeing a team of roughly 70, with approximately half of those operating in an HR capacity and the other half in EHS, this HR Leader will be responsible for leading, guiding, counseling, overseeing, and supporting all critical and strategic human resource needs and initiatives for this division of Caterpillar. In addition, the Director HR provides leadership and supports execution of Business Unit level HR, including performance management and business unit HR metrics as well as oversees EHS for the division. This individual will also be responsible for overseeing and driving the business strategy of COGMD through supportive HR leadership and services with a customer focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior management as a strategic advisor helping identify and prioritize HR initiatives that align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Align HR policies and programs for their division which promote employee engagement, retention, and performance.
  • Act as a trusted coach providing guidance to leaders and managers on HR-related matters, including performance management, compensation, and benefits, etc.
  • Analyze HR metrics and data to identify trends and opportunities and develop a story to provide data-driven recommendations to senior management.
  • Lead team of HR leaders to collaborate effectively with other Centers of Excellence and serve as thought leaders to the business and HR.
  • Lead, support, and influence the design and change management approach of large-scale talent-focused change efforts impacting highly matrixed lines of business.
