Union Tank Car Company is seeking an experienced Director, Human Resources, to serve as a key business partner to operational leadership and help shape the future of our workforce. This is a highly visible leadership role that combines HR leadership, labor relations expertise, talent development, and organizational effectiveness across multiple locations. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
- Strong background as an HR Business Partner and people leader
- Exceptional coaching, employee relations, and organizational development skills
- Ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization
- Must reside within commuting distance of our Chicago HQ office for a hybrid (minimum 2 days/week) environment.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the USA without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, repair, transportation, or related environments preferred
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is a plus
- Experience supporting unionized workforces and administering collective bargaining agreements will be helpful
Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior HR leader supporting business operations and leadership teams
- Partner with leaders on talent acquisition, workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational development
- Coach and influence leaders at all levels on employee relations, performance management, and talent strategies
- Drive transformational change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Develop and implement leadership development and employee engagement programs
- Support annual HR processes including performance management, compensation planning, and talent reviews
- Lead, mentor, and develop HR team members while driving high-impact business outcomes
- Lead employee and labor relations strategies, including collective bargaining agreement administration and dispute resolution
