Cornell Human Ecology explores the complexity of human life. We bring together a wide range of perspectives to understand the full context of the human experience and improve lives at every scale, from cells to society. Our research and academic programs focus on the interaction of humans with their biological, economic, social and physical environments. Using Cornell's far-reaching extension network and the college's translational research methods, we deliver our findings directly to communities and families, ensuring that our work reaches those who need it most. The Director of Career Development will oversee the College of Human Ecology career development function. As Director they will provide students with the information and tools necessary to pursue their career goals and develop strategic relationships with employers and alumni to help secure internship and employment pathways for Human Ecology students. The director will work closely with college leadership, the College’s Alumni Affairs and Development team, and academic departments to ensure collaborative efforts in cultivating and leveraging relationships with Human Ecology alumni with the goal of developing career and networking opportunities for students. The director serves as the voice of the college in the Cornell Career Development Network and collaborates closely with campus career development colleagues to ensure that outstanding career development services are provided to Human Ecology students. In collaboration with Cornell Career Development, the director will develop metrics to assess the quality and effectiveness of Human Ecology career support and report regularly to the Assistant Dean for Student Experience, academic department leadership, Cornell Career Development, and the Human Ecology Dean’s Office. As part of the Student Experience team, the director works to promote and support the university’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. The director will have a student-centered approach to their work, contribute to building a collaborative community based on trust, and promote the values of belonging.
