About The Position

The Director of Health Systems Managed Care Contracting provides advanced administrative guidance and operational management for staff responsible for developing health system contracting strategies, conducting negotiations, coordinating facility and faculty business office issues with payors, producing supporting analytics, representing the health system's evolving needs to stakeholders, and maintaining relationships with providers and payors for UT Southwestern Medical Center. The applicant needs to live in the north Dallas area. The role works with UTSW faculty, facilities, administrative teams, leadership, legal, operational, and financial stakeholders to support contract negotiations and strategic decision-making. It oversees analytic staff and reporting, monitors contract performance, develops unit policies and procedures, and represents UTSW in committees and related contracting activities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a related field.
10 years of experience in contracting and business solutions in a healthcare environment.
Significant managed care contracting and analytic experience.
Applicant must live in the north Dallas area.

Responsibilities

Conduct and successfully conclude timely contract negotiations that meet or exceed UTSW's financial and operational objectives, enlisting legal, operational, and financial input and support.
Work with UTSW faculty, facilities, and administrative teams to identify contracting needs and business office requirements, ensuring evolving needs are addressed through payor discussions and established interfacing structures.
Pursue managed care contracts to market and develop new business opportunities, and develop and maintain positive business relationships with third-party payors.
Stay current on federal and state healthcare policy and regulations that may affect UTSW, and work with leadership to develop and implement strategies.
Support analytics and ensure quality control of reports; oversee development and routine production of financial reporting for contracting, monitoring, and planning.
Facilitate UTSW's strategic pricing review using internal input and available external resources, and work with leadership to process information for strategic decisions.
Monitor contract financial performance, volume trends, and product implementation, and act as a liaison among facility and faculty departments and payors.
Manage analytic staff, including recruitment, performance management, counseling and discipline, ongoing training, and termination.
Coordinate UTSW's interactions with contracting staff at affiliated organizations.
Attend project planning meetings of regional or national organizations involved in health services contracting.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for unit operations.
Serve on, attend, and participate in UT Southwestern committees, meetings, and functions as requested by Administration.
Perform other duties as assigned.
