About The Position

The Director, HR is a proactive, highly organized, and people-focused leader responsible for supporting employees and driving effective HR operations across PragerU. This is a hands-on role that requires the ability to thrive in an extremely fast-paced, high-volume environment, exercise excellent judgment, and move quickly between employee needs, leadership support, and day-to-day HR priorities. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, trusted problem-solver, and self-starter who brings professionalism, discretion, and a can-do attitude to everything they do.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Strong understanding of HR practices, employee relations, and employment compliance
  • California HR experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to build strong relationships with employees and leadership
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in an extremely fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and strong sense of ownership
  • Flexibility to shift priorities quickly and move between different projects and responsibilities with ease
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Experience with HRIS and other HR technology platforms, Rippling strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees on HR-related questions and needs
  • Partner with the VP of People Operations and leadership on employee relations and other people matters
  • Manage and oversee the company’s twice-yearly performance management and review process
  • Support employee engagement, retention, recognition, and culture initiatives
  • Maintain HR policies, employee records, company documents, and internal resources
  • Track and ensure completion of mandatory employee trainings
  • Assist with benefits, leaves, and other recurring HR processes
  • Lead Open Enrollment and work closely with outside brokers regarding enrollments, billing, and other employee benefits issues
  • Manage and maintain company and HR reporting, ensuring accurate and timely data for leadership
  • Manage and lead company-wide events, including the annual end-of-year company party and staff workshop, from planning through execution
  • Support managers with day-to-day employee and HR needs
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, communication, and efficiency
  • Provide project support to the VP of People Operations
  • Take ownership of special projects and jump in wherever needed
