About The Position

The Director, Safety & Health is responsible for executing and sustaining Stryten Energy’s Health & Safety (H&S) programs in partnership with plant-based Safety leadership and Operations. This role ensures full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements while driving a strong safety culture and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Health & Safety regulatory compliance within a manufacturing environment or as an industry consultant.
  • Subject Matter Expert in H&S regulations applicable to Stryten Energy operations, including OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry).
  • Demonstrated experience with EHS management systems and external certifications (e.g., ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001)
  • Demonstrated experience with compliance audits and regulatory inspections
  • Demonstrated experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with EHS training and learning systems
  • Demonstrated experience with Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex projects and multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and report-development skills related to H&S regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization as well as external agencies and the public.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate, influence, and drive change across diverse operational teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in using data analysis, safety knowledge, and facilitation skills to develop effective solutions to operational challenges.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators.
  • Ability to move throughout manufacturing environments to perform essential job duties.
  • Willingness to travel to Stryten Energy facilities across the United States approximately 25% of the time (up to 50% as business needs dictate).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary leader for the implementation and governance of Stryten Energy Health & Safety standards, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including OSHA and other governing agencies.
  • Translate regulatory requirements into effective policies, procedures, tools, and operational guidelines to support consistent implementation across all facilities.
  • Partner closely with Operations leadership to ensure H&S compliance programs are embedded into daily operations at all Stryten Energy locations.
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor compliance tools and systems related to OSHA, DOT, DHS, and other regulatory agency requirements.
  • Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and recordkeeping for all regulatory-required H&S programs, including incident and accident reporting, medical surveillance, and industrial hygiene monitoring.
  • Support facilities with workers’ compensation documentation and information requests.
  • Guide appropriate industrial hygiene sampling protocols and monitoring requirements to ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct H&S mock audits and plant reviews in partnership with site leadership and the Director of H&S Compliance to ensure adherence to Stryten Energy requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Communicate H&S compliance requirements clearly and effectively to operational leaders and site personnel to ensure understanding and proper execution.
  • Develop and deliver processes, training programs, and tools to meet all regulatory-required H&S training obligations.
  • Review and assess site-level H&S processes and procedures for regulatory compliance and effectiveness.
  • Lead and manage H&S operational projects, corrective actions, and remediation initiatives to mitigate risk and enhance safety performance.
  • Assist facilities in obtaining and maintaining certification or registration to recognized safety management systems such as OHSAS 18001 (or equivalent standards).
  • Stay current on emerging and evolving H&S regulations and proactively update Stryten Energy standards and programs accordingly.
  • Partner with site leadership to develop divisional H&S goals and strategic initiatives that support continuous improvement and performance excellence.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with plant managers, H&S professionals, and corporate leadership.
  • Supervise and manage external H&S consultants, vendors, and service providers as required.
