About The Position

The Director, Health & Safety will provide leadership, guidance, accident investigation and safety auditing within the U.S. Will also be responsible for safety compliance and ensuring that a positive safety attitude and environment exist within the operations. Responsible to lead a team to coordinate activity throughout the Region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety or related field
  • 5 years related work experience in Health & Safety
  • Strong knowledge of MSHA, OSHA and DOT rules and regulations
  • Strong computer skills (Office 365 Suite including SharePoint, Power Automate, etc.)
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills and ability to speak in front of groups
  • Ability to maintain levels of confidentiality and impartiality during investigations
  • Ability to establish and manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines
  • Ensure accountability, with respect to health & safety is applied consistently and appropriately throughout the Region

Nice To Haves

  • ASP/CSP, MSP certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Set clear expectations, goals, and objectives for team members, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures and programs for the Region.
  • Comfortably deal with ambiguous assignments, utilizing strong problem solving to recommend or support implementing successful safety solutions.
  • Identify training needs in the Region and liaise with the Director of Health &Safety Training to assist in relevant development of training material and subsequently implement identified training in the Region.
  • Must excel as a communicator. Will need to communicate credibly with large groups of employees, supervisors and managers, across CEMEX businesses, and with Federal, state and local authorities regarding accidents & compliance issues.
  • Oversight for safety practices, accident and workers' compensation claims investigations, accident reporting procedures, compliance monitoring, record keeping and reporting processes to effectively reduce risk, increase safety awareness, and manage costs, while optimizing productivity.
  • Review operation incident frequencies, trends, conduct root cause analysis, and determine proper corrective actions to mitigate future incidents.
  • Provide timely data, accurate reporting and relevant health and safety information to the Region leadership to help guide decision making.
  • Stay current and engaged in the regulatory community to monitor and anticipate compliance requirements.
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, MSHA, DOT, State and Local rules and regulations at all times.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.
