About The Position

Newmont is a world-leading gold and metals producer committed to shaping a more inclusive, sustainable, and responsible mining industry. The Brucejack Gold Mine, a high-grade underground mine in northern British Columbia, is a fly-in/fly-out operation. As the Director, Health, Safety & Environment, you will provide strategic leadership for all health, safety, and environmental programs at Brucejack Mine. You will lead a multidisciplinary team to ensure regulatory compliance, manage operational risk, and foster a culture where safety, health, and environmental stewardship are integrated into every aspect of the operation.

Requirements

  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience leading health, safety, and environmental programs within mining or other heavy industrial operations.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Experience managing regulator relationships, compliance programs, and incident investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams in complex operational environments.
  • Proficiency in risk management, change management, project management, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.

  • Experience working in remote mining environments is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of site-specific HSE strategies, objectives, and improvement plans aligned with Newmont standards and business priorities.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance, governance activities, audits, and assurance programs to meet internal and external requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, government agencies, contractors, and community stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze HSE performance trends, identify risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on operational risk controls, incident investigations, and event management.
  • Partner closely with site leadership to proactively manage HSE risks and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing HSE team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Support regulatory, sustainability, and enterprise reporting requirements through accurate data collection and monitoring systems.
  • Champion a culture of inclusion, engagement, and visible safety leadership across the operation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Newmont Health & Safety procedures and other applicable policies.
