This role is responsible for leading and executing the U.S. federal and state government affairs strategy to advance U.S. Animal Health operational priorities. Acting with delegated authority, this role serves as the company’s principal government affairs leader for Animal Health in the United States, advising senior leadership and representing the organization in complex legislative, regulatory, and policy environments. representing BI with federal and state officials on animal health issues. In this role, Director fosters a growth environment for all BI business animal health activities, ensures that the company interacts effectively with multiple constituencies, including patient and provider groups, competitors and key policy making centers within a highly volatile political environment at the federal level. As a member of the Government Affairs and Public Policy leadership management team, the Director of Government Affairs for Animal Health serves as a specialist working with BI internal customers to prioritize BI public policy interests. The position requires creative thinking to identify opportunities and strong management skills to execute plans which enhance profitability through regulation, legislation, and government payment. The Director contributes to BI through short and long term strategic planning using insights about government. The Director overseas a broad portfolio of issues and is responsible for coordinating with Federal Government Affairs, State Government Affairs, Public Policy, and the BI Corporation Political Action Committee. Strong knowledge of industry is a plus.
