Ametek, Inc.•Waterbury, CT

About The Position

The Director, Global Supply Chain leads supply chain strategy and execution across global manufacturing operations and reports directly to the Vice President of Operations. The role drives performance across inventory management, planning, strategic sourcing, supplier management, and logistics. A central priority is improving planning effectiveness, reducing inventory and excess and obsolete (E&O), and improving working capital while maintaining customer service and supply continuity. The Director establishes discipline in demand and supply planning, inventory policies, safety stock, ERP parameters, and supplier lead times. The role leads global sourcing initiatives to reduce cost, mitigate risk, localize supply, and improve supplier performance. The Director directly leads the global sourcing team and provides functional leadership, standards, and guidance to planning, purchasing, materials, and logistics teams across manufacturing sites. This is a hands-on, data-driven leadership position. The successful candidate uses analytics to identify root causes, challenge assumptions, establish accountability, and translate supply chain strategy into measurable operational and financial results. The role also supports manufacturing transfers, localization, facility moves, new-product launches, and other major operational programs, while developing talent and capabilities across the global manufacturing network. Domestic and international travel is approximately 30% of the time.
