Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Occupational Health, Environmental Management, EHS or related field
  • 10 years' experience implementing and managing EHS programs or related functions / areas for manufacturing /operations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to build relationships and to influence others
  • Ability to understand internal customer needs and align with required regulations to achieve desired results
  • Deep knowledge of EHS directives, regulations, and standards across the US, EU, and other major markets
  • Strong strategic decision making to align with regional and functional business goals
  • Ability to drive execution across diverse groups in different cultures
  • Excellent Project Management Skills with the ability to get work done through others
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an EHS programs and drive functional excellence to protect the health and safety of all MSA associates worldwide.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of MSA's Global EHS programs, establishing a strong safety culture and promoting consistent EHS behaviors across all sites
  • Provide strategic direction through global directives, policies, training programs, and tools to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company-mandated practices, while fostering behavioral change initiatives that embed safety as a core value across MSA
  • Lead the identification and deployment of protocols to safeguard associate health against major global risks such as pandemic viruses, severe seasonal illnesses, environmental disturbances (air or water pollution), and other hazards
  • Guide the design and implementation of behavior-based and engineering-based controls, reinforcing safe practices and proactive risk prevention enterprise-wide
  • Lead the oversight of the global EHS budget and resource allocation, ensuring programs are adequately funded and staffed to achieve strategic objectives and operational excellence
  • Benchmark and develop leading-edge metrics, auditing tools, and reporting methods for all MSA sites globally. Ensure accuracy of OSHA/EHS reporting and other relevant data, and provide appropriate reports to the Executive Leadership Team
  • Monitor the effectiveness of EHS programs and company culture, recommending corrective actions when necessary by identifying deficiencies, areas needing loss control, risk analysis, compliance attention, or company-wide behavior change
  • Provide guidance on facility security and verify that emergency response plans exist where required
  • Act as the primary MSA representative for audits and any other regulatory agency interactions
  • Responsible for being identified as the MSA contact person for external inquiries other than routine requests for information. Facilitate internal activities to respond to these inquiries and communicate internally and externally as needed
  • Interfaces with government officials on matters related to EHS and regulatory compliance as needed
  • Develop EHS associates globally, ensuring each location has competent personnel trained in EHS to drive MSA's Global Safety Program for their respective associates
  • Provide expert guidance on key EHS areas, including OSHA compliance, worker safety programs, Lock-out Tag-out / equipment guarding, facility security, accident prevention and incident investigation, medical/case management, and regulatory compliance for country- or region-specific requirements
