Director, FP&A - Planning, Governance & Modernization

AcrisureBoston, MA
$175,000 - $250,000Onsite

About The Position

Acrisure's Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization is executing a deliberate modernization agenda designed to support a public company at scale. We are seeking a highly experienced, organizationally savvy finance professional to serve as the internal operating backbone of that effort. Reporting directly to the Head of FP&A, the Director of FP&A - Planning, Governance & Modernization is a senior-level individual contributor role responsible for three interconnected domains: orchestrating Acrisure's enterprise financial planning processes, establishing and maintaining FP&A governance standards, and driving FP&A modernization as an internal program management office (PMO). This role requires exceptional ability to lead through influence — coordinating across FP&A Centers of Excellence, Accounting, and business partners without direct line authority — and to manage complex, high-visibility advisory engagements on behalf of the FP&A organization. The ideal candidate is located in Boston, Hartford, CT, Chicago or Grand Rapids, MI.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi-workstream projects or consulting engagements — including vendor management, milestone tracking, and executive reporting — in a fast-paced environment with little oversight.
  • Strong command of financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting, with the ability to design and document enterprise-grade process frameworks.
  • Experience designing or implementing governance structures — including assumption ownership, KPI certification, or data stewardship frameworks — in a finance or FP&A context.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence in matrixed organizations, building credibility and driving accountability without direct line authority.
  • Excellent executive communication and presentation skills; comfortable synthesizing complex workstreams into clear status updates, decision documents, and leadership-ready narratives.
  • Experience with planning platforms such as Anaplan, Adaptive, Oracle EPM, OneStream, or similar tools; familiarity with BI platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with a demonstrated track record in FP&A transformation, operating model redesign, or enterprise finance modernization.
  • Prior experience in a Big 4 public accounting or advisory firm, with direct exposure to finance function transformation, process improvement, or EPM/FP&A advisory engagements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in insurance brokerage, financial services, or a high-growth, complex multi-entity organization with non-GAAP reporting requirements.
  • Exposure to IPO readiness, public company reporting, or investor-facing finance processes.
  • Experience supporting or managing a competitive RFP process for finance technology or advisory engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Own and orchestrate the end-to-end annual budget and rolling forecast processes, including calendar design, milestone accountability, and cross-functional coordination across the Revenue, Expense, Management Reporting, and Strategic Finance functions.
  • Design and maintain the enterprise planning playbook — governance documentation, submission standards, review cadences, and escalation protocols — ensuring consistency and quality across all FP&A planning cycles.
  • Partner with FP&A Center of Excellence leaders and Strategic Finance Business Partners to integrate functional inputs into a consolidated enterprise view.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for planning process quality, calendar adherence, and cross-functional readiness for executive and Board-level financial reviews.
  • Design and maintain the Certified Assumption Owner (CAO) registry — the authoritative record of who owns each forecast assumption (e.g., retention rates by line of business, new business growth rates, headcount commitments, capital market rates) and the associated review and sign-off cadence.
  • Establish and govern standards for management reporting KPIs and metric definitions, including the review and approval process for new or modified definitions proposed by FP&A, Accounting, or business partners.
  • Own governance standards for management-to-GAAP and management-to-non-GAAP bridges, partnering with Corporate Accounting to ensure consistent methodology, terminology, and presentation across internal and external audiences.
  • Convene and chair cross-functional governance forums as appropriate; build relationships with Accounting, Data & Analytics, and business partners to maintain shared accountability for data and reporting integrity.
  • Serve as the internal PMO lead for Acrisure's FP&A modernization agenda, establishing and overseeing workstreams, managing dependencies, holding internal and external stakeholders accountable to milestones, proactively resolving risks, and escalating issues with proposed solutions to the Head of FP&A.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership of FP&A modernization engagements with consulting firms, including scoping, workstream coordination, deliverable review, and budget oversight — ensuring advisory outputs translate into durable internal capabilities.
  • Translate advisory outputs and project deliverables into executable internal roadmaps, linking modernization initiatives to FP&A operating model goals and IPO readiness requirements.
  • Identify, prioritize, and advance process improvement and automation opportunities in partnership with FP&A leaders, Financial Systems, and Data & Analytics, with a focus on forecast accuracy, reporting speed, and data quality.
  • Track and report modernization progress against a structured agenda; communicate status, risks, and decisions to FP&A leadership and senior Finance stakeholders with clarity and appropriate urgency.
