Under the direction of the CEO of the MATC Foundation & Executive Director of College Advancement, the Director, Foundation Finance and Operations plays a pivotal role in overseeing the financial functions and day-to-day operations of the MATC Foundation. This multifaceted role involves strategic financial management, operational leadership, and collaborative engagement with key stakeholders, including the MATC Business Office and leadership team. With assets exceeding $40 million under the Foundation's administration, the Finance and Operations Director ensures prudent financial management and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field; and a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible financial management experience.
• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and managing investment accounts as well as non-profit financial management, including compliance with 501(c)(3) regulations.
• Three (3) years of management or supervisory experience of professional staff.
• In-depth knowledge of non-profit accounting and financial compliance including foundation accounting for permanently and temporarily restricted funds.
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to interpret and analyze financial reports and conduct financial research.
• Strategic thinking with the ability to anticipate future trends and incorporate them into financial plans.
• Ability to problem-solving, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to students and staff.
• Ability to foster creativity and be responsive to innovative ideas.
• Ability to multitask, manage multiple projects, prioritize high-priority assignments and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to create, structure, and deliver public presentations to a variety of groups.
• Ability to use computer financial software and systems, such as Financial Edge or equivalent and the Google Office Suite.
• Ability to communicate effectively, persuasively and analytically both through written and oral means across all levels of employees, management and with students.
• Ability to establish, collaborate and maintain effective work relationships with peers, students, teachers, staff, representatives of outside agencies, educational institutions, and the general public.

• Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management is preferred and more than seven (7) years of relevant experience, including collaborating with boards of directors and finance committees.
• Four (4) years or more of management or supervisory experience of professional staff.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains strategic financial plans and operational objectives aligned with the Foundation's mission and goals.
• Provides leadership and guidance on long-term financial sustainability and growth initiatives, supporting organizational success and impact.
• Conducts strategic financial analysis, including forecasting and performance evaluation, to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
• Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop and implement financial strategies that align with organizational priorities and maximize impact.
• Oversees all financial functions of the MATC Foundation, including budgeting, accounts payable, sponsored programs, and maintenance of financial records, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations regarding the maintenance of non-profit 501(c)(3) status.
• Manages bank and investment accounts, including deposits and online banking activity, and conducts monthly reconciliations of donor and financial systems prepared by support staff.
• Supports fundraising initiatives and strategies through financial analysis and forecasting, providing financial insights to inform decision-making and optimize revenue generation.
• Maintains the infrastructure for providing donor-directed scholarships, awards and grants to students who meet established criteria.
• Provides guidance and support to the Manager of MATC Scholarship Programs, ensuring effective administration, compliance, and reporting for scholarship initiatives.
• Reviews scholarship criteria, monitoring, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with donor agreements and Foundation policies.
• Develops, maintains, and periodically adjusts financial standard operating processes and procedures to ensure effectiveness in meeting financial goals, compliance with regulations and internal policies, and oversight of internal control systems.
• Implements process improvements and operational efficiencies to enhance productivity and effectiveness across all Foundation operations.
• Oversees the process of internal monitoring of program outcomes and financial spending for Foundation-funded programs.
• Serves as a liaison to the college's internal auditor and the auditing firm that performs annual independent financial audits and prepares annual filings.
• Designs, monitors, and tracks the Foundation's annual compliance and performance management ensuring alignment with legal requirements and industry best practices.
• Reviews all reports and statements prepared by external partners to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Serves as the lead liaison to the MATC Business Office, collaborating closely on budgeting, financial reporting, and sponsored program administration.
• Builds and maintains positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, partners, and vendors, to support Foundation initiatives and enhance community engagement.
• Establishes, maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with staff, faculty, administrators, and departments including financial aid, student accounts, designated project leads responsible for grant implementation, and other areas of MATC to coordinate investments in student scholarship and programmatic support for student success.
• Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with leadership of Milwaukee PBS to coordinate financial management.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for financial matters, coordinating closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
• Prepares financial information, including the annual budget, for discussion and decision by MATC Foundation Board and its committees.
• Collaborates with the MATC Controller and CFO to ensure a mutually beneficial financial relationship between the MATC Foundation and MATC, fostering open communication and strategic alignment.
• Manages all payments to MATC for support of Milwaukee PBS.
• Practices honesty by demonstrating a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles, values, truthfulness and accuracy in all actions.
• Addresses all student and employee behavior in a confidential and respectful manner.
• Develops and manages high performing teams and highly skilled and motivated staff focused on the delivery of quality and value-added services and allocates cross-functional responsibilities and work processes.
• Responsibilities include hiring, coaching/mentoring, performance management, and progressive discipline as needed.
• Maintains up to date with federal and state regulatory updates, impact reports, industry trends, institutional reports, professional publications.
• Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.
• Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

• Hourly pay rates are listed up to the midpoint of the range and placement is determined based on years of experience, internal equity, and a review of the applicant's employment and educational background as listed on the job application.
