About The Position

GLWA Water Operations is seeking a Director- Fleet and Facilities to plan, direct, coordinate, and supervise a G.L.W.A. operational group. Develop and implement policies and procedures. Participate in budget development and administration; organize tasks and sets priorities that involve a high level of independent judgment, initiative, and discretion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, business administration, public administration or related discipline
  • A minimum of five (5) years of recent and progressive managerial and administrative experience, including staffing, budgeting, project management, and operational experience in a specialty designation, preferably in connection with large-scale public or private operations
  • A valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive a motor vehicle on all terrain
  • Ability to work irregular hours, to commute to GLWA facilities and work sites
  • Follow security and safety policies and procedures in carrying out work duties

Responsibilities

  • Identify, delineate and propose solutions to difficult administrative challenges
  • Confer with leadership team members on policy interpretation, activities, procedures, problems, and required action to ensure efficient and economical operations in compliance with policies, rules, laws, and legal provisions
  • Review and recommend action on policies and programs formulated by leadership in connection with operations
  • Analyze relevant data including, but not limited to, statistics, cost and work reports to evaluate efficiency, develop and coordinate plans and procedures to increase efficiency
  • Inspect facilities and operations to identify and prioritize response to problems
  • Direct the work of administrative team members and managers
  • Direct the preparation and management of group’s budget
  • Prepare and present data to Executive Leadership, board members and GLWA customers
  • Represent the organization and official contacts in public forums
  • Follow security and safety policies and procedures in carrying out work duties
  • Maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License and the ability to drive a motor vehicle on all terrain
