About The Position

As the Director of Financial Reporting, you will serve as a critical leader within the finance organization, owning the full suite of financial reporting and analysis. This is a high-visibility role designed for a "hands-on" leader who can navigate the complexities of Insurance GAAP while driving strategic FP&A initiatives. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, managing cash flow, and providing the executive team with actionable insights to support capital deployment and corporate growth. This role is ideal for a technical expert who thrives in a fast-paced, Private Equity-backed environment and is eager to leverage advanced technology to streamline financial operations.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
  • Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in Financial Reporting and FP&A.
  • Industry Core: Direct experience in an Insurance/F&I environment is required. Must be proficient in insurance-specific technicalities: loss triangles, premium recognition, and DAC.
  • Software Mastery: Hands-on proficiency with Planful and BlackLine is essential.
  • Advanced Excel: Expert-level modeling and analytical skills.
  • Technical GAAP: Deep knowledge of technical external reporting requirements.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Public Accounting: A background in Big 4 accounting, consulting, or banking is highly preferred.
  • Environment: Experience within a Private Equity-owned or high-growth organization is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • GAAP Ownership: Lead and manage the financial reporting function, ensuring 100% compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Special-Purpose frameworks.
  • Insurance Accounting: Execute and oversee core insurance-specific metrics, including IBNR (Incurred But Not Reported), DAC (Deferred Acquisition Costs), premium recognition/revenue, and loss ratio analysis.
  • External Reporting: Own the production and filing of timely financial statements, including comprehensive quarterly and annual reports.
  • Audit Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audit requests, providing technical accounting guidance for complex transactions.
  • Executive Partnership: Act as a strategic partner to the CFO and senior leadership to establish departmental goals and analyze budget vs. trend variances.
  • Board Presentations: Lead the production of Board financial packages, including high-level forecasts and ad hoc strategic presentations.
  • Business Growth: Support efforts to implement new partners and sales channels, providing financial modeling to ensure profitable expansion.
  • Process Automation: Lead initiatives to enhance the application of technology within the finance function.
  • System Management: Drive deep utilization of Planful and BlackLine for reporting and reconciliations, exploring new tools to automate the compilation and analysis of results.
