About The Position

The Director, Financial Planning – US Commercial is a key business partner to the Menarini Stemline Oncology business unit commercial organization in the US region. In this role he/she supports the commercial teams by assisting in financial planning processes, timely reporting of financial metrics and insightful analysis to gauge business performance and resource allocation that aligns with organizational priorities. This position is classified as a corporate office position. In accordance with the New York state employer convenience rule, Stemline will withhold New York state income taxes for all corporate office employees, regardless of whether these employees work in New York or remotely.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance required.
  • Seven to ten years in a Financial Planning & Analysis function
  • Strong customer focus with dedication to quality and willingness to address business critical issues outside normal business hours
  • Superior communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel/PowerPoint or Google Sheets/Slides is required
  • Prior experience supporting a commercial organization in a life sciences industry
  • Strong organizational skills and time management; ability to manage diverse range of simultaneous projects

Nice To Haves

  • MBA preferred
  • Familiarity with SAP S4 and CCH Tagetik is a big plus
  • Good understanding of health care payor systems and distribution models is a plus
  • Prior biopharmaceutical product launch experience will be valued highly

Responsibilities

  • Support financial planning activities such as the annual budget, reforecasts and strategic plan with special emphasis on commercial functions under the SVP – US Commercial and SVP, Head – Market Access
  • Quantifies financial risks and opportunities for top and bottom line against budget
  • Works with US commercial teams to bridge demand forecasts into gross-to net sales budget and reforecasts
  • Reports on key metrics for financial performance measurement and forecasting accuracy including but not limited to gross-to-net sales, gross, direct and contribution margin
  • Understand SAP and can track operational expenses, reporting back to commercial leaders and adjusting accordingly
  • Reviews classification of operating expenses to ensure appropriate allocation to product, expense type and cost center
  • Tracks and reports on fiscal year commitment levels against activities and materials budgets at a product level and provide training/support as needed to ensure team members are accurately tracking expenses in a timely manner
  • Ensures that financial planning submissions comply with Menarini financial reporting requirements
  • Works with sales operations and commercial leadership to measure field force goal attainment impact versus budgeted incentive compensation
  • Reinforces financial timelines, policies and procedures with assigned Functions
  • Guides US commercial functions on the use of the Tagetik planning system to achieve expected utilization levels and assure its successful adoption
  • Performs ad-hoc analyses and presents findings to senior finance and commercial management
  • Participates in internal cross-functional teams on financial and operational projects as assigned
