About The Position

The Director of Financial Affairs II oversees all accounting and budgeting activities for assigned area(s) with a significantly larger size and budget. Ensures application of accounting principles, practices, and techniques in accordance with industry standards, current laws, and University policy. Manages resources of assigned area(s) to accomplish goals and objectives. Supervises accounting and other staff. Provides guidance and direction to staff in assigned area(s). Provides strategic financial leadership and comprehensive oversight for all budgets within the Division of Student Life. Serves as the principal advisor to division leadership on budgeting, financial management, resource allocation, funding strategies, and long-term financial sustainability. Directs annual budget development, forecasting, accounting operations, fiscal management, and financial reporting to ensure effective stewardship of institutional resources and balanced budgets. Oversees financial controls, compliance, risk management, business processes, and expenditure approvals to ensure adherence to University policies and sound financial practices. Leads strategic initiatives, policy development, and process improvement efforts that strengthen financial operations, enhance organizational effectiveness, and support the division's mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related financial field and eight (8) years of accounting experience; OR Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and six (6) years of accounting experience.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to lead a team that works collaboratively in an environment of constant growth and change.

  • Experience partnering with senior leadership, overseeing financial operations, and guiding budget development.
  • Supervision and management experience in a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the University's accounting, financial, and purchasing policies and procedures.
