About The Position

The Director of Finance for University Capital, Student Life, and other administrative areas will oversee a $55 million operating budget and a $150 million capital budget. This role partners with the Vice Provosts and leadership team on short- and long-term strategic planning, key financial decisions, process improvements, and oversight of budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, and operational goal setting. The position also leads the development of 1- to 10-year capital projections, tracks committed project spending, and forecasts the incremental operating impact of added building square footage. As needed, the role will also support pro forma development for new residence or dining halls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance
  • 6 + years of progressively responsible finance experience leading a complex organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and advise on long range financial and organizational planning.
  • Exhibit leadership, communication and administrative oversight of the activities of the Finance areas resulting in a cohesive, effective and efficient team. Evaluation of the finance/administrative services structure and team plan for continual improvement of efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth opportunities.
  • In concert with leadership, contribute to the development and articulation of finance and operation goals / objectives which assure the Divisions fulfill their missions and their strategy.
  • Collaborate with other financial staff to identify opportunities to automate the finance process.
  • Develop, implement and communicate policies, guidelines and procedures that result in sound fiscal and operational management of the Divisions. Monitors the Divisions' financial performance; analyzes and prepares documentation and spreadsheets setting forth forecasts, projections, and adverse trends and provide appropriate recommendations needed to achieve accountability and growth benchmarks.
  • Partnering with institutional leaders to support long-range capital planning, evaluating project feasibility and financial impact, and ensuring proposed and approved capital projects are consistent with strategic goals and financial capacity. The position oversees the tracking and reporting of capital projects to monitor budgets, schedules, commitments, and overall progress, while identifying risks & variances.
  • Prepares financial results presentations for various levels of the organization ensuring information is consumable for the intended audience.
  • Provides ad hoc analysis as interest and issues arise. Assumes other responsibilities and performs such other duties as may be prescribed by the University.
