Overview The Director, Field Operations, Corporate Clubs is responsible for leading operational performance across a large, geographically dispersed portfolio of corporate-owned clubs. This role provides leadership, coaching, and accountability for Regional Managers while ensuring operational consistency, financial performance, member satisfaction, and team member engagement across assigned markets. The Director serves as a key link between the field and Club Support Center, translating enterprise priorities into actionable plans, identifying opportunities for improvement, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver business results. This role combines strategic leadership, operational excellence, people development, and change management to support sustainable growth while protecting the Planet Fitness brand and Judgement Free Zone® experience. This is a field-based role that will cover clubs across Southern PA, Delaware, New Jersey, and Long Island, NY. The ideal candidate should currently reside in one of these regions and be willing and able to travel up to 100% of the time within the region and as needed to the Club Support Centers in Hampton, NH and Boston, MA.

Requirements

  • Willing and able to travel approximately 100% of the time.
  • Some evenings and weekends are required
  • Currently reside near a major airport
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, Operations, Hospitality, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • 8+ years of progressive multi-unit operations leadership experience within a consumer-facing environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading geographically dispersed operations through multiple levels of leadership
  • Proven ability to coach and develop leaders while driving accountability for operational, financial, team member, and member experience results
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including experience managing P&L performance and leveraging data to guide decision-making
  • Experience leading operational improvements, large-scale initiatives, and organizational change across multiple locations, markets, or regions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, reporting tools, dashboards, and business analytics
  • Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including executive leadership
  • Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally
  • Creative, progressive, thought leadership with the ability to influence and drive organizational change
  • Excellent leadership and people development skills with the ability to motivate, guide, mentor, and inspire others

Responsibilities

  • Leads, coaches, and develops Regional Managers, building leadership capability, accountability, and bench strength across assigned markets.
  • Partners with People & Culture to support succession planning, talent development, workforce stability, and leadership pipeline initiatives.
  • Creates clarity around expectations, performance standards, and execution priorities while fostering a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Supports Regional Managers in diagnosing business challenges, developing solutions, and delivering sustainable results.
  • Builds high-performing teams that consistently deliver exceptional team member and member experiences.
  • Drives operational performance across assigned regions through consistent execution of Planet Fitness standards, programs, and business priorities.
  • Owns performance against key operational, financial, membership, retention, and member experience metrics.
  • Reviews business performance data and P&L results to identify opportunities to improve revenue, profitability, operational efficiency, and market performance.
  • Maintains a strong field presence to assess club operations, leadership effectiveness, member experience, and operational risks.
  • Ensures accountability for achieving business objectives while maintaining ownership at the appropriate leadership levels.
  • Champions a consistent, high-quality member experience that reflects Planet Fitness brand standards and creates a welcoming, Judgement Free environment.
  • Uses member feedback, NPS results, Mystery Shop insights, and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement across clubs.
  • Identifies trends, operational gaps, and performance opportunities through data analysis and field observations.
  • Supports the implementation of scalable operating practices that improve consistency, efficiency, and execution across markets.
  • Balances business priorities, member needs, brand standards, and team member experience when making decisions and driving change.
  • Partners closely with People & Culture, Finance, Marketing, Real Estate, Facilities, Learning & Development, Operations Support, and other Club Support Center teams to support business objectives.
  • Serves as a visible advocate for organizational initiatives and helps field leaders successfully navigate change.
  • Anticipates barriers to execution and collaborates with leaders and stakeholders to develop practical solutions.
  • Builds trusted partnerships across the organization, creating alignment, shared ownership, and effective decision-making.
  • Influences stakeholders at all levels by translating strategy into clear priorities, actionable plans, and measurable outcomes.
