Learn more about our work at www.breakthroughtech.org/ . Position Summary We’re looking for a strategic and collaborative Director, Fellow Outreach and Selection to join our Program Delivery team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Program Delivery, this full-time, exempt role will lead outreach, recruitment and selection for our innovative work-based learning programs nationwide. You will own both strategy and execution to ensure we reach, attract, and enroll top quality undergraduate talent from historically overlooked populations to take part in our programs, including Sprinternships and the AI Program.

Requirements

  • Strong affinity for and connection to Break Through Tech’s mission
  • Demonstrated experience successfully designing and leading recruitment and selection for work-based learning or other educational programs, preferably with a focus on undergraduates and/or early career professionals in tech
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, execute and measure effective marketing campaigns direct-to-student and through partners
  • Familiarity with the Higher Education landscape, with a focus on Computing majors and/or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs
  • Prior experience successfully managing external partnerships to drive outcomes
  • Prior experience successfully leading teams (including full-time and temporary reports) to deliver results
  • Prior experience successfully designing and delivering info sessions and events online to a distributed audience.
  • Experience working effectively as a player/coach with a strong interest in leading strategy while delivering
  • Data-driven decision maker with experience leveraging software and AI to evaluate and report on impact and effectiveness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, particularly when working with high level internal and external stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented and organized systems thinker with an ability to mentor and coach others
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, quickly changing work environment
  • Culture builder with expertise in successful change management and organizational effectiveness
  • Fluency in the following tools, or equivalent/similar tools: Excel/Sheets, Salesforce, MailChimp/Constant Contact, Zoom Webinars, Generative AI
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or a related field required.
  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, campaign management, or business development support.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that drive measurable business results.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, stakeholders, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience working with CRM systems, marketing automation tools, analytics platforms, and digital marketing channels preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading university recruiting and/or talent sourcing for technical teams
  • Past experience working with Minority Serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Large Public Universities
  • Fluency in the following tools, or equivalent/similar tools: Salesforce, Zendesk, FormAssembly, JazzHR, Mailchimp, Google Suite
  • Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, organization-wide annual strategy for outreach and selection that drives our mission
  • Drive conversion from interest to application and through to matriculation
  • Ensure a world-class candidate experience by owning key metrics for candidate acquisition, application review, decision velocity and Candidate Support Desk
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate operations leveraging existing systems and new solutions to build capacity and efficiency
  • Partner with executive leadership to ensure outreach and selection strategies and operations are aligned with Program design and mission
  • As a member of the Delivery & Operations team, ensure strategies and operations are aligned with overall Fellow Journey and standards for Fellow Experience
  • Lead recruitment for all Break Tech Programs nationwide, driving interest and applications from 15,000 undergraduates annually
  • Own a portfolio of strategic external relationships with outreach partners including university faculty and staff as well as key non-profit and community partners
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies for reaching our target audiences including events, partnerships, conferences, email and social media
  • Oversee the development and launch of a new website and platform for Fellow Outreach and Selection
  • Drive conversion from interest to application and through to matriculation
  • Design, develop and maintain key selection processes and operations including playbooks, applications and rubrics
  • Make selection decisions for each program and manage offers and enrollments
  • Recruits, hires, and onboards part-time application readers. Assigns and reviews work of part-time application readers to ensure quality and timely completion.
