SUMMARY DESCRIPTION Under general direction, plans, organizes, and manages all functions and activities of the Facilities, Operations & Planning Department, including planning, design, construction, renovation, plant operations, custodial operations, and maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, grounds, fleet, and equipment; coordinates assigned activities with other District departments, staff, and outside agencies; provides highly responsible and complex professional assistance to the Vice President, Business and Financial Affairs in areas of expertise; supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned staff; and performs related work as required. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives general direction from the Vice President, Business and Financial Affairs. Exercises general direction and supervision over management, supervisory, professional, technical, and administrative support staff, directly and through subordinate levels of management and supervision. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is a Department Director classification that oversees, directs, and participates in all activities of the Facilities, Operations and Planning Department, including short- and long-term planning, development, and administration of departmental policies, procedures, and services. This class provides assistance to the Vice President, Business and Financial Affairs in a variety of administrative, coordinative, analytical, and liaison capacities.
