About The Position

The Plant Operations Director for Porter Medical in Middlebury, VT, has overall departmental leadership responsibilities for building maintenance, Biomed, and Hazardous Waste for all PMC locations and Helen Porter. The Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the Engineering/Maintenance Department functions. This includes maintaining the physical structures, ensuring compliance with Life Safety Codes and regulatory standards (CMS, OSHA), and overseeing HVAC, medical equipment, electrical systems, utility systems, and grounds in an operative and safe working condition. The role involves providing direction, coaching, and performance management for Plant Operations managers and technicians, overseeing all work performed by the department, and coordinating with other leaders across the organization and UVM Health Network on facility-related projects, safety concerns, and challenges. This position is also a member of the Facilities Leadership Council.

Requirements

  • Basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, hazardous material, and safety management experience.
  • Professional licensure required.
  • Thorough understanding of healthcare facility regulations.
  • 5 years' management experience.
  • Healthcare facility experience REQUIRED.

  • CHFM certification is a plus.

  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and comfort with business strategy implementation, cost controls, productivity enhancement, and operating in a politically sensitive environment.
