About The Position

Plans, organizes and provides oversight and accountability for information systems services and activities for assigned hospitals and business clients. Acts as point person for those sites/clients. Secures clients plans, identifies solutions and integrates appropriately into Health System, Corporate IT plans. Communicates approved plans and appropriate updates to sites/clients.

  • 7-12 years of relevant technical experience
  • 7+ years of leadership / management experience

  • Experience in modules directly relevant to HIM, Identity, and Coding (e.g., Epic HIM, Kaleidoscope (Identity), Professional Billing Coding, Hospital Billing Coding, Resolute Hospital/Professional Billing).
  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale Epic HIM, Identity, or Coding implementations, upgrades, or significant optimization projects across a complex healthcare system.
  • Deep functional and technical understanding of Epic's Master Patient Index (MPI) and related identity management tools, including advanced duplicate resolution strategies, data integrity best practices, and enterprise-wide MPI governance experience.
  • Expertise in Epic's charge capture, coding, and claims processing workflows , including seamless integration with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), revenue cycle operations, and payer relations.
  • Advanced HIM & Coding Leadership: AHIMA credentials (e.g., RHIA, RHIT) and/or AAPC coding certifications (e.g., CCS, CPC, CIC) at a leadership level, demonstrating ongoing commitment to professional excellence and industry best practices.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategic initiatives that significantly improve HIM data quality, coding accuracy, revenue integrity, patient identification processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Extensive experience managing large, diverse teams of HIM professionals, inpatient and outpatient coders, and MPI specialists, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and adaptability.
  • Direct experience with regulatory audits (e.g., CMS, OIG, HIPAA) and successfully implementing corrective action plans and preventative measures.
  • Master's Degree in Health Information Management, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Formal training or certification in Lean Six Sigma, Project Management (PMP), or Change Management methodologies, applied successfully within a healthcare IT or HIM context.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with IT, Clinical Operations, Revenue Cycle, Compliance, and other executive leadership to drive integrated solutions and achieve organizational goals.
  • A visionary approach to leveraging health information technology and data analytics to advance patient care quality, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
  • Epic Certifications is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a Product Services & Management group by communicating with and developing staff members, and building consensus for programs and goals that support a business, function or geographic area.
  • Develops and articulates a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility.
  • Participates in client planning processes, analyzes key business initiatives and information needs which support, influence and transform business operations and strategy.
  • Collaborates with IT leadership to ensure client plan is aligned with Enterprise plan.
  • Participates in development of strategic goals, objectives and plans for clients and IT.
  • Provides leadership in executing those plans.
  • Communicates Information Technology’s vision, goals, objectives, and efficiencies related to execution and implementation of information system solutions to client leadership.
  • Provides leadership in defining the process and service levels delivered to clients.
  • Ensures service levels are accurate and meet client needs.
  • Facilitates relationships with client and IT leadership, and key strategic vendors.
  • Participates in capital and operating budget preparation and demand management related to all IT requests from clients.
  • Reviews monitoring reports to ensure project forecasts are aligned with approved budgets.
  • Collaborates with client sponsors and key members of IT to define the return on investment (ROI) and the post implementation process to assure that cost effective investments are being made.
  • Oversees/ sponsors the successful completion of IT Capital approved projects for assigned clients.
  • Ensures IT maintains the infrastructure, network, key applications, desktop support and proper disaster recovery procedures.
  • Participates in applicable education and meetings in order to support client needs.
  • Provides leadership and knowledge to maintain an accurate Application Inventory which is understood, communicated and supported.
