About The Position

The Director of Enterprise Stability & Resilience Engineering is responsible for building and leading the engineering capabilities that enable resilient, reliable, secure, and high-performing customer journeys across the enterprise. This role is not focused on traditional infrastructure operations, cloud platform management, DevSecOps tooling, or production support. Instead, the leader will operate as a senior software engineering executive with deep business and customer understanding, responsible for embedding resilience, reliability, security, recoverability, observability, and performance engineering into the software development lifecycle and enterprise architecture. The successful candidate will combine strong software engineering leadership with the ability to understand business domains, customer journeys, enterprise ecosystems, and technology dependencies to design and implement engineering capabilities that proactively prevent failures and improve customer outcomes.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, solution engineering, architecture, and technology delivery.
  • 10+ years leading software engineering organizations and large-scale technology initiatives.
  • Proven experience leading teams through the complete engineering lifecycle including: Discovery, Solution Engineering, Architecture, Delivery, Production Readiness, Continuous Improvement.
  • Strong expertise in application architecture, distributed systems, APIs, integration patterns, event-driven architectures, and enterprise platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex business domains and translate business objectives into engineering solutions.
  • Experience designing and implementing resilient, scalable, secure, and high-performing systems.
  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to connect business outcomes to technology capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams responsible for Enterprise Stability and Resilience Engineering capabilities.
  • Establish engineering standards, frameworks, patterns, and reusable capabilities that improve resiliency and reliability across customer-facing platforms.
  • Drive software engineering excellence across discovery, solution engineering, architecture, execution, and delivery.
  • Build engineering products, services, and automation that continuously improve the resilience posture of the organization.
  • Develop a deep understanding of business processes, customer journeys, critical transactions, and enterprise capabilities.
  • Map end-to-end customer journeys and technology dependencies across channels, applications, APIs, middleware, data platforms, and third-party ecosystems.
  • Identify architectural, operational, and engineering risks that could impact customer outcomes.
  • Translate business objectives into engineering capabilities that improve reliability, recoverability, security, scalability, and performance.
  • Design and implement enterprise resilience capabilities across critical customer journeys.
  • Define engineering controls and integration patterns that improve availability, fault tolerance, recovery, and operational readiness.
  • Partner with application, platform, architecture, security, and business teams to embed resilience-by-design principles.
  • Drive proactive risk identification and engineering solutions before customer-impacting issues occur.
  • Establish enterprise-wide reliability engineering practices.
  • Drive performance engineering strategies, benchmarking, capacity planning, and scalability assessments.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to integrate security engineering controls into development and delivery processes.
  • Ensure resilience, reliability, security, and performance considerations are incorporated throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Build automated engineering guardrails, controls, and stage gates within the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Develop policy-driven engineering governance capabilities that minimize manual reviews.
  • Create measurement frameworks, scorecards, and maturity models for resilience and reliability.
  • Enable self-service engineering capabilities and automated compliance monitoring.
  • Influence senior technology and business leaders on resilience strategies and investments.
  • Drive multi-year roadmaps for enterprise stability, resilience, and engineering modernization.
  • Foster a culture of engineering accountability, customer obsession, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
