About The Position

Plans, organizes, and manages the activities of assigned branch in conformance with established Bank strategies, policies and procedures. Supports, and adheres to, the Bank’s strategic plan as well as established policies and procedures, and recommends changes to support prescribed requirements or enhance operational efficiencies. Responsible for establishing effective governance and overseeing the Project Management Office, with direct project oversight for all Bank wide projects. The SVP Project Management must develop and maintain productive relationships with key Bank stakeholders, department staff and third parties to ensure effective buy-in and adherence to the established project management process. The position must adhere to project management guidelines and principles, and provide project leadership and organization throughout the bank. Routinely presents project status to management and chairs project based governance and operational meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent through coursework or training.
  • At least 15 years demonstrated success as a Company-wide Project Manager within the financial services industry.
  • Project Management certification required
  • Requires excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to think and problem solve on the macro and micro level
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate across the organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, juggling priorities in a fast paced environment
  • High energy individual with flexibility and ability to retain composure under pressure

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the bank’s EVP/CIO, works to establish appropriate governance and framework around the bank’s project management process and portfolio of projects. Assesses effectiveness and overall project management governance on at least an annual basis and makes improvements/changes as necessary.
  • Oversee all stages of approved projects, including assignment/training of project manager(s) and business analysts, needs requirements, definition of scope, management of end-user expectations, coordination of technical design work, communication with all stakeholders, scheduling of project milestones, project risk logs/assessments, project documentation, and project post-mortem.
  • In conjunction with the bank’s EVP/CIO, ensures project resource allocations are appropriate across the portfolio of projects. Reassesses project priority as necessary to ensure appropriate project governance and quality of output.
  • Work with and/or manage the activities of a diverse group of employees with differing occupational backgrounds, technical knowledge, and skill sets to drive project completion leveraging strategies to manage ambiguity and stakeholder expectations.
  • Establishes comprehensive project and technical documentation requirements and ensures all relevant documents are centrally maintained and reference able through the PMO. Train bank personnel on how projects are managed and showcase the benefits.
  • Actively participates in the bank’s strategic planning sessions with the Board of Directors and Executive Management. Maintains the scorecard: directly responsible for maintaining the bank’s Strategic Plan action items matrix.
  • Ensures that the established risk management process for vendor and/or system selection is comprehensively documented through project initiation and includes, procedurally, assessment of the implications to the bank’s established procedures and business continuity planning.
  • Reports project statuses and emerging risks to management and the Board of Directors in accordance with bank’s schedule requirements
  • Works to align the project management process with vendor management and IT risk management disciplines along with the bank’s established budget process.
  • Ability to quickly determine functional needs from non-technical conversation with users and to use analytical skills and tools to make sound business decisions with an understanding of budget and strategic implications.
