About The Position

Lead and elevate Crowley’s claims organization to new heights. Take charge of a dynamic team managing complex claims across marine, cargo, property/casualty, auto liability, workers’ compensation, and management liability. Drive strategic alignment with enterprise risk management objectives and position yourself as a trusted advisor to senior leadership—shaping risk mitigation strategies and influencing key decisions that protect and propel our business forward.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or risk management (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in marine, logistics, or complex P&C claims, including leadership of claims teams.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
  • Demonstrated experience with Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) such as Riskonnect or similar claims systems, with a preference for AI-enabled tools.
  • Strong familiarity with data analytics and reporting platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certifications: CPCU, AMIM, ARM/ARM-E, AIC, RIMS-CRMP, ARe, or similar.
  • Preference for AI-enabled tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the enterprise claims function across marine, property, casualty, workers’ compensation, auto liability, management liability, and cargo/equipment exposures.
  • Oversee a high-performing team responsible for investigating, analyzing, adjusting, reserving, and resolving a wide range of claims impacting Crowley’s maritime, logistics, and transportation operations.
  • Manage high-severity potential and complex litigated matters, set claim strategy, and ensure operational, legal, and financial integrity throughout the claim lifecycle.
  • Build and lead a high-performing claims team.
  • Develop and align claims strategy with enterprise risk management goals.
  • Provide insights and influence senior leadership on risk mitigation and emerging trends.
  • Oversee self-administered Hull & Machinery (H&M) and Protection & Indemnity (P&I) claims for Crowley’s owned and managed fleets.
  • Manage investigation, reporting, reserving, negotiation, and resolution of high-severity, complex, and litigated claims.
  • Ensure timely coordination of Service of Process (SOP) and legal defense actions.
  • Coordinate with P&I Clubs, underwriters, surveyors, defense counsel, TPAs, and other external partners.
  • Provide functional oversight to BOSCOE (shared services) Cargo & Equipment Claims team.
  • Represent Crowley in mediations, arbitrations, and legal proceedings.
  • Standardize and modernize core claims processes to enhance consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Deploy digital tools, AI, and predictive analytics to enhance reporting and operational performance.
  • Partner with Accounting & FP&A for reserves, accruals, cash forecasts, and Beacon reporting.
  • Deliver claims insights, trend analysis, and financial-impact reports to senior leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to U.S. maritime law, international conventions, insurance regulations, and global compliance standards.
