About The Position

As the Director, Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure, you will lead the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of CAQH’s cloud computing and infrastructure roadmap. You will play a key leadership role in driving architectural modernization, reducing vendor reliance, and implementing secure, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure across the enterprise. This includes defining standards and frameworks that enable CAQH to innovate quickly while ensuring operational stability, data protection, and regulatory compliance. You will oversee a high-performing team responsible for enterprise architecture, cloud engineering, infrastructure, and DevOps. This role requires strategic vision, strong technical acumen, and the ability to partner cross-functionally to support business objectives and modernization initiatives.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of enterprise-level architecture, cloud computing (Azure preferred), and infrastructure strategy.
Ability to translate business needs into scalable, secure infrastructure and DevOps solutions.
Advanced knowledge of IAM, encryption, network security, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, SOC2).
Proven experience leading infrastructure automation (e.g., Terraform, Bicep) and CI/CD modernization efforts.
Strategic thinking with the ability to manage complexity and prioritize effectively.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum/SAFe delivery methodologies.
Hands-on fluency with AI assistants and AI developer tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) applied to real engineering and operations work, such as infrastructure as code, log and incident analysis, and automation.
Sound judgment on the security, privacy, and governance considerations of deploying AI tools in a regulated healthcare environment.
Demonstrated ownership in high-severity situations, with timely, proactive communication to executive stakeholders.
10+ years of progressive experience in IT, cloud engineering, or infrastructure architecture.
5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams and strategic initiatives.
Proven track record in designing, deploying, and optimizing cloud-native environments in Microsoft Azure.
Experience guiding enterprise-level transformation and managing hybrid or multi-cloud environments.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience modernizing infrastructure for .NET or similar platforms is a plus.
Experience operationalizing AI tooling for technical teams, or a demonstrated record of using AI to accelerate infrastructure and operations delivery, strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field strongly preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification in Azure Architecture, Cloud Security, or DevOps strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Define and lead CAQH’s cloud and infrastructure strategy in alignment with organizational goals.
Establish and govern architectural standards for infrastructure, cloud, identity, and DevOps across the enterprise.
Provide technical and strategic leadership for cloud modernization efforts, insourcing initiatives, and platform evolution.
Drive secure, cost-effective adoption of Azure-based solutions, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platforms.
Oversee implementation of a Cloud Standard Operating Environment and enforce consistent architectural and operational frameworks.
Collaborate with enterprise architects and business stakeholders to define future-state infrastructure needs.
Guide vendor evaluation and implementation of new cloud and infrastructure technologies.
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and decision-maker for critical infrastructure architecture decisions.
Champion the adoption of infrastructure automation, observability practices, and cost optimization.
Define and monitor key metrics to ensure reliability, performance, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
Lead internal coordination for security posture, identity management, and business continuity planning.
Report on progress, issues, and risks to senior leadership.
Own end-user computing across the enterprise, including device lifecycle, warranty and refresh planning, and endpoint management (Jamf, Intune).
Manage the outsourced IT support vendor relationship, including SLAs, escalation paths, VIP support coverage, and regular vendor performance reviews.
Serve as incident owner for major infrastructure or end-user incidents: drive vendor escalation, root-cause analysis, and proactive status communication to leadership through resolution.
Champion the adoption of AI tooling across infrastructure and operations, including AI-assisted engineering, diagnostics, and automation, and support the secure enterprise rollout of approved AI platforms.
Lead and manage a cross-functional team of Cloud Engineers, Infrastructure Specialists, and DevOps professionals.
Set strategic objectives for the team aligned with enterprise IT and business priorities.
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and career development support.
Oversee hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of technical staff.
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-accountability culture.
