About The Position

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for all facets of Enrollment Advising Operations. This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President, Student Services and Enrollment Management Services, keeping him/her abreast of all planning, organizing, staff and development of Temple College’s student enrollment services.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree and one (1) year of directly related full-time work experience or Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years directly related full-time work experience specific to the duties and responsibilities described.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning and implementation, resource development and allocation, personnel and faculty development, management, and initiation of change.
  • Knowledge of student information systems such as Ellucian Colleague and Recruit software
  • Knowledge of higher education advising processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FERPA requirements.
  • Knowledge or ability to learn the symbiotic relationships between departments in order to facilitate advising and student success.
  • Skill in working with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body and an ability to promote a campus climate that supports Temple College’s values.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written, active listening, and verbal communication skills.
  • Skill in leadership, planning, assessment, and budgeting.
  • Skill in strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the success of students by creating and sustaining a departmental climate that welcomes all members and considers their well-being.
  • Foster a positive team environment of staff who provide exemplary customer service to students.
  • Participate in proactive team and committee efforts to achieve departmental, Student Services and Enrollment Management Services, and College goals.
  • Coordinate the assignment of Enrollment Advisor Caseloads of prospective and current students.
  • Serve potential and current students by providing communication and support on completing the admission application process, career exploration and counseling, academic advising, financial aid, registration, enrollment retention support to include academic and financial aid suspension appeals, career and transfer planning.
  • Provide students with appropriate admission, course scheduling, and financial aid application forms.
  • Review and verify all incoming forms for Admissions, Financial Aid, and Advising.
  • Enter and update information on student forms, documents and transcripts into the Colleague computer system.
  • Maintain and file paperwork within the Colleague system on a daily basis to protect confidentiality.
  • Cross train with Student Enrollment Services departments.
  • Meet, coordinate, and implement plans for and with main campus and EWCHEC staff.
  • Communicate regularly with Directors of Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, and Disability Services, and Veterans Services regarding student issues.
  • Collaborate in the activities connected with New Student Orientation and Student Life and Activities.
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality student-centered service and student success by developing and implementing strategies based on best practices to maximize student success, retention, and completion.
  • Provide leadership, strategic planning, and oversight of policy development and the management of the fiscal, facility, and human resources.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact in coordinating Guided Pathway activities, implementation strategies and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Collaborate with faculty Department Chairs and Deans in maintaining academic maps and class offerings.
  • Assist students in developing an educational plan, including clarifying educational and career goals, choosing a program of study, and assisting the student through this decision-making process.
  • Assist students with identifying barriers to their academic success and work with them to strengthen their skills and access resources on campus.
  • Advise potential and current students regarding career assessment and advising, programs of study/fields of study, academic plans, financial aid processes, course selection, transfer planning to four-year colleges and degree planning.
  • Provide students with strategies related to academic progress and work/life/study balance.
  • Collect and use student feedback to guide continuous departmental improvement.
  • Participate in recruitment activities to support the College’s goals of attracting and retaining a diverse student population.
  • Work with Temple College departments in promoting a college going culture in the community through Application and Financial Aid promotion and information sessions.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
