About The Position

At Allstate, great things happen when our people work together to protect families and their belongings from life’s uncertainties. And for more than 90 years, our innovative drive has kept us a step ahead of our customers’ evolving needs. From advocating for seat belts, air bags and graduated driving laws, to being an industry leader in pricing sophistication, telematics, and, more recently, device and identity protection. Job Description About Agentic Cyber Operations & Platforms (ACO&P) Agentic Cyber Operations & Platforms (ACO&P) is a net-new Digital Product Team structure designed to transform how Cyber Operations scales and operates in an AI-enabled threat landscape. ACO&P embeds artificial intelligence, a high-fidelity Security Operations Data Plane, and strategically managed security-relevant tooling as default operating capabilities—not optional point solutions. The organization is intentionally designed to mature over time, incorporating additional security tooling responsibilities where required, while ensuring all tooling adheres to shared platform patterns, data standards, and AI-first principles. Role Summary The Principal Engineer is the technical authority for the AI, Security Operations Data, and security tooling ecosystem underpinning Cyber Operations. This role defines and enforces engineering standards that make shared AI and data capabilities reliable, secure-by-design, observable, and auditable at enterprise scale. In addition to platform engineering, the role explicitly supports ACO&P’s tooling readiness posture—ensuring that when security-relevant tooling must be operated or absorbed to enable AI and data outcomes, it is integrated into the ecosystem with consistent patterns, automated controls, and operational discipline.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of relevant new product or technology development experience in a fast-paced environment, with demonstrated experience shipping software and managing complex integrations.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, marketing, or related business degree; MBA/MIS/MS desired.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-product technical strategy and influence senior stakeholders on complex design decisions.
  • Strong hands-on experience establishing CI/CD practices and operating production systems with accountability to KPIs/outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Security data and analytics engineering: log/telemetry pipelines, schema governance, normalization/enrichment, and query-driven analytics concepts.
  • Cloud and data platform familiarity: experience with cloud-native logging/analytics platforms, time-series/log query languages, and data ingestion/transformation patterns.
  • Automation and platform engineering: reusable libraries/services and developer enablement through paved roads/golden paths.
  • Agentic AI secure-by-design practices: least-privilege tool access, restricted interactions, resilience to manipulation, evidence logging / explainability expectations.
  • Risk, privacy, and compliance alignment: experience partnering with risk/legal/privacy stakeholders on assessment processes for AI-enabled capabilities and regulated data handling.

Responsibilities

  • Define reference architecture, technical standards, and reusable primitives for AI enablement services, the Security Operations Data Plane, and ecosystem integrations.
  • Establish standards for code quality, test-driven development, availability, and secure software engineering practices.
  • Engineer guardrails for AI-assisted and agentic workflows (bounded actions, least privilege, evidence logging, observability, auditability) and ensure secure-by-default configurations.
  • Ensure ingestion, transformation, schema discipline, enrichment, and analytics readiness are engineered for reliability, performance, and defensible operations.
  • When tooling operation is required, define integration contracts (APIs, schemas, telemetry, access controls), automate configuration, and ensure tooling adheres to ecosystem standards and monitoring.
  • Ensure platform services and operated tooling have runbooks, health signals, and repeatable remediation patterns.
  • Coach engineers, provide technical oversight, and serve as escalation point for complex design decisions and cross-product tradeoffs.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive technology setup, including a laptop, monitors, headset, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Monthly connectivity reimbursement to help offset internet costs for remote employees.
  • Dedicated, private workspace free from distractions, along with appropriate desk and seating for remote work.
  • Reliable internet, with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload required for remote work.
