A growing acute care hospital in the San Antonio area is seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Services to lead a high-volume Emergency Department through continued growth and expansion. This role provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership with a strong emphasis on accountability, patient throughput, staff engagement, and quality outcomes. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Active, unencumbered RN license in Texas (or compact eligible).
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department Director experience (exceptionally strong ED Managers may be considered) .
  • Minimum 3 years of recent Emergency Department clinical experience .
  • Demonstrated success with operational metrics, quality outcomes, and staff leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Experience leading high-volume Emergency Departments.
  • Strong background in throughput optimization and employee engagement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for Emergency Services.
  • Ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered emergency care delivery.
  • Lead staffing strategy, scheduling, productivity management, and position control.
  • Drive patient throughput, flow optimization, and surge planning initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce clinical standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, and quality benchmarks.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Lead and develop Emergency Department leadership team, including managers and charge nurses.
  • Partner with physicians and hospital leadership to advance departmental and organizational goals.
  • Manage departmental budgets, operating expenses, and cost-containment initiatives.
