About The Position

The Director of the Emergency Department is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of emergency services. This includes developing and implementing policies and procedures, setting departmental goals, and overseeing all staffing activities such as hiring, orientation, evaluation, and continuing education. The role also involves budget preparation, compliance with funding, coordinating audits, and administering clinical activities including care plan development and complaint management. Requirements

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing for an accredited program OR Associate’s Degree in Nursing with a Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare related field.
5 years of nursing experience with 2 years leadership experience required.
Active RN license in the state of Alabama.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree preferred.
10 years nursing experience with 5 years leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Direct development and implementation of emergency services policies, procedures and strategy.
Develop departmental goals, plans and standards.
Plan, organize and direct all activities related to staffing, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.
Prepare budgets and ensure compliance with allocated funding.
Coordinate and direct internal/external audits.
Administer and evaluate all clinical activities including care plan development, service level determination and complaint management.
