About The Position

The Director of MMIC Design Engineering provides strategic and technical leadership for MACOM's RF and microwave GaN MMIC product development activities. This role is responsible for leading multiple MMIC development teams, managing a portfolio of GaN-based programs, and driving execution from concept through production release. The Director serves as a key member of the engineering leadership team, partnering closely with Product Management, Operations, Product Engineering, and Executive Leadership to align technology investments with business objectives and customer requirements. This individual will build organizational capability, accelerate innovation, and drive profitable growth across MACOM's RF and microwave semiconductor portfolio.

Requirements

BSEE required; MSEE or PhD preferred.
15+ years of RF, microwave, and MMIC design experience with significant expertise in amplifier design.
5+ years leading engineering organizations, including management of managers and senior technical leaders.
Demonstrated success delivering complex semiconductor products from concept through production.
Extensive knowledge of GaN semiconductor technologies.
Deep understanding of RF and microwave circuit design methodologies.
Strong experience with ADS and RF simulation environments.
Thorough understanding of RF characterization, measurement techniques, product qualification, and reliability testing.
Proven ability to manage multiple development programs simultaneously.
Strong financial acumen, including budget planning and resource management.
Excellent communication, presentation, and executive leadership skills.
U.S. Persons (U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, or individuals granted asylum or refugee status) will be considered for this position due to ITAR regulations.

Responsibilities

Contribute to and execute the short and long-term GaN MMIC product development and technology roadmap.
Align engineering resources and development initiatives with corporate growth objectives and market opportunities.
Evaluate emerging technologies, competitive offerings, and industry trends to identify innovation opportunities.
Lead and develop multiple MMIC design teams responsible for GaN-on-SiC based products.
Establish engineering objectives, organizational structures, and resource plans to achieve development goals.
Build a high-performance culture focused on innovation, accountability, quality, and execution.
Recruit, retain, mentor, and develop world-class engineering talent.
Manage managers, technical leads, and senior individual contributors.
Direct multiple concurrent development programs from concept through product qualification and release to production.
Ensure projects meet performance, schedule, cost, quality, yield, and reliability objectives.
Drive development process improvements and best practices across all engineering activities.
Oversee design reviews and provide executive-level technical guidance for critical design decisions.
Ensure effective utilization of Agile development methodologies and project management tools.
Partner with Product Engineering, Operations, Quality, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure successful product commercialization.
Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Testability (DFT), yield improvement, and product reliability initiatives.
Lead executive program reviews and communicate project status, risks, mitigation plans, and resource requirements.
Facilitate organizational alignment to accelerate time-to-market and maximize business impact.
Serve as the senior technical interface for key customers and strategic business opportunities.
Support Product Management in customer visits, technical proposals, feasibility studies, and design-win activities.
Provide executive-level technical leadership during customer escalations and strategic engagements.
Collaborate with business leaders to identify new market opportunities and growth initiatives.
Guide architecture and design strategy for advanced RF and microwave GaN MMIC solutions.
Champion innovation in GaN and related semiconductor technologies.
Foster intellectual property development through patents, publications, and proprietary technology advancements.
Establish partnerships with universities, research organizations, foundries, and technology suppliers.
